its not just christmas, they did it everytime when they werent fighting. stories of americans coming over to the germans trenches unarmed with just a mug of coffee or chocolate to barter/share/offer were common. i heard from my socials teacher that he met a veterant where the vet had a poker game with a german in his trench, and they had to fight, after the fight they came back and finished their game. even during war, people are still people.
