no no NO! i'm sick of 9 out of 10 fits if not more looking like you just stumbled out of urban outfitters. vans authentics, slim denim, ugly flannel/western or plain tee with plain aa hoodie. take your boring ass shit to style forum or something.

Yes yes yes. Finally someone said it. This whole trend/movement/ style is tragic. It's so, for lack of a better term, nerdy. It's not fashionable, it's not stylish. You just look like a geek. Like any other mall hopping geek.

There's a large difference between classic and simple and looking like a complete herb, which is what most here look like when they try and pull it off. Streetwear needs to dismantle and regroup and go back to its roots.
January 28, 2009 @ 17:45:11
Everyone is taking on the same exact mold as everybody else. It gets to a point where it's like, whats next? It's taking away from the originality and uniqueness that once consumed street wear, the shit I was attracted to. What makes them any different from anybody else? heavier ounce denim? phase out.

BIG BACK BAGGY!!!!

The problem is exactly what was just said a few posts above(mikeboi said it). If someone doesnt like the fit color or sizing they flame. then the kid that posted the fit gets hurt deep down inside and feels he needs to dress like the people that get props or not flamed so he goes and cops the shit that is the same shit everyone else has so he can be in the comfort zone and not get flamed on....and to some it looks good to them. So it creates an army of robots. Then the first time someone steps out that line they get flamed. Then you got SSBSTS and Diddy and myself preachin about variety but we the preachers are the few amongst many that want the variety that used to be streetwear.

For those that I quoted asking about the jacket.. It's a RRL varsity. it's a fairly recent piece, from FW2008 line I'm pretty sure.. bought at the polo store in NYC. when I bought it, it was the last one so it might be a bit older

i know you want variety, but everytime i read post like this it just makes me wonder how the poster dresses like, post some fit pics so i can see how "different" your style is and how streetwear is suppose to be worn since 9/10 of kids on hb arent doing it right!!!!

I'm not saying anyone isn't doing it right I'm just expressing my disdain for the current trend in streetwear amongst the younger crowd. I guess its just that I come from the 90's sloppy Jap look. A part of me misses the exclusivity and the limited run, the hunt if you will. Not just walking to you local shopping mall after school and to buy whatever is hot at UO or the GAP. Then posting said 'hype' on the internet. I'd rather everyone look the same and have the fits worthy of conversation due to interesting pieces than skinny jeans and vans that I see all day everyday.

I don't think they are saying 9/10 people aren't "doing it right". There really should not be a right, it should be about individual style. The problem they have is that a lot of people are fitting into a particular mold. There is no doubt that there certain trends being overdone as of late, you can scroll through several pages and see that. Some people do them, some people do what's hot at the moment, some people may be doing both at once, by coincidence. I would agree that it seems like a lot of people have been fitting a "formula" lately. But that's expected. Most people are afraid to do something different because they want to be accepted. No hate to anyone because I can appreciate anyone's style, as long as it's them. But honestly, this conversation is probably not going to go anywhere, because it's been done before. I'll move on, everyone else should to.
