Anybody that believes that this election is not racially influenced is very closed minded and needs to come out of the closet. I live in Houston Texas, which if you had know idea is probably the most conservative state in the nation. I myself work at a Oil Industry (APACHE Corp.) and a registered Republican, and 9 times out of 10 I will most likely vote for the republican candidate.
But what really grinds my gears is Sarah Palin, I just think she is way too uneducated and inexperienced to become 2 in line. Call me a realist, but that is a chance I'm not willing to take. This video pretty much sums it up for me.

^ you have a point. You do have a point that it was the white vote in Idaho that secured Obama's candidacy during the primaries, but it is a large portion of older/ more hard lined whites who continue to perpetuate these inconsistencies about Obama's culture, religions, and affiliations.

Ignorance is a two way street. There are blacksvoting for Obama soley off of his race. ( I personally preferred Richardson/ Edwards). The only difference is the importance of power as a voting block. The black vote is not enough, or considered powerful enough to sway an election. It is the white vote that is crucial and why their opionions and sentiments are eulogized by the media.

republics get a lot of votes for two reasons.
1. play the moral card (abortion, gay marriage, etc.)
2. people think they are fiscally conservative.

sadly if people took a little time to look at recent history they would see number two to be very wrong. republicans always like to cut taxes because it creates an illusion of fiscal responsibility, but it has just been masked by borrowing.

i have seen many long time republicans switch camps. they finally saw through the bullshit and realized the republicans are not the fiscal conservatives they claim to be.
