if you have like inbetweeen 2.5 - 3.0 can you get into a good college.

and the fact that your on a national soccer team . any like benefits ?

Plenty of good, well ranked schools that aren't popular, and because of that their acceptance rate is much higher similar ranked schools.

And if you play soccer for them you're even better.

Edit: Anyone play a club sport at their college? I'm considering a club hockey team at Catholic if I go there.

you saying you're below 40YO probably indicates that you're in your 30s. and believe it or not WAYYY BACK THEN, admissions were different. they were about numbers. but NOW, it's harder to get into selective schools. it's not all about numbers.

I handle admissions for athletes now. I know the admissions process for athletes and regular students.

You must have missed where I said for 95% of people applying, it is about their numbers. The other 5% students with difficult circumstances where the university considers the greatest impact by granting a student admission.

Like I said before, if you are middle to upper class you need something distinctive other than year book staff or student council. Everyone applying to more selective schools has that stuff just like they have good GPAs and SAT scores. Sorry if that bursts people's bubble of what a good extracurricular is but better now than later.

You also missed in the post that you quoted in your post where I said that a non-numbers reason to admit someone would have their story told in essays and interviews. You might want to reread my post.

do good on your SAT. I don't know what state you're from, but texas has automatic admissions to state universities if your score is high enough.

roommate had a 4.8 weighted, played soccer, and toiled away on WoW senior year. he got an interview at Yale and pretty much told the recruiter off.

"so what other schools did you get accepted to?"
"berkeley"
"oh in the south"
"no, the west coast"
"excuse me?"
"um...i'm pretty sure it's on the west coast (sarcastically)"

Yeah, I do. After sophomore year you start to settle down and get sick and tired of seeing different faces every night.

I believe that comes with maturing a little, too. You realized, during, or after, your 2nd year that you are halfway through, so the books become a concentration more than the beer.

That's funny, considering how I've been getting serious with school, career, this year (I'm a sophomore).

How the hell did you get into USC With a 2.7? Was it because your HS was known for low academic achievements?

At my school if you get over 100% in a class, it allows for your gpa to be over a 4.0
