Try Fordham.
St. Johns is good for Pharmacy
CUNYs arent really that good, but if you get into honors then everything is paid for you&)

Go to UCLA, school is like 60% asian.
My cousin goes there and showed me around when i went to cali to visit some relatives and the girls ive seen were dope

UCLA's hard as hell to get into though
Aug 26, 2010 @ 18:03
Yeah I was thinking about applying to Fordham and St. Johns actually.
As far as CUNY's go, what's the best/worst?

Don't think there is a best/worst for cunys, but depending on what you want to study, some are better than others. Like Baruch for business etc

get used books.
Aug 26, 2010 @ 20:18
I hate buying books I especially hate when I sell them back to the school and they say that they do not need the books any more.
Or when you buy an expensive book and they will barely give you any money for it.

I hate when the professor says the book is essential for the class curriculum, and then we never touch the book and then the return deadlines have already passed so you have to wait until they start buying books back and THEN they don't pay you shit. I think it's a school conspiracy to do this shit to ensure they'll make bank. tongueface

No shit!
Can I pm you some questions?

And about the price of books, try not to buy the books from your campus bookstore. They jack up the price to make a profit off them.
Aug 26, 2010 @ 23:26
about textbooks, i think its best to find a friend or an acquaintance who has taken the class already. they will generally let em go for far cheaper than what you will find in any used book sale or online because its cash and less of a hassle if you meet up with em. some schools also have facebook networks dedicated to students who want to sell their books to others, which is one of the few services that really cater to students
Aug 26, 2010 @ 23:31
I was going to try trading with people but the school likes to change the books so you will have to buy a new books.tongueface

If they change to a later edition don't worry about it, editions aren't the biggest of deals.
Aug 26, 2010 @ 23:47
fuck school text books, that shit is a scam.

What type of courses typically don't use the textbook? It's a given a math course would but a Greek/Roman class probably would use it too right?

You usually save money in this situation because you don't have to pay for the book to get bound. For example, I took a Biology class last year that required a $100 looseleaf book versus the $150 bound book. Yeah, I couldn't sell it back afterwards, but I would have only got like $20 for it hardback, which means I would have been down $130 versus just spending the $100 and getting to keep the looseleaf at the end of the class. And you should be able to sell the looseleaf copy to another student for a couple bucks as well. It's really the way to go if you're given the option.

eBooks are, of course, the best option, but they're never going to become standard given the retarded amount of money that a school book store brings in.
Aug 27, 2010 @ 14:55
woooo just spent 400$ on all (Seven) of my books.

Philosophy rocks. There are no bigass textbook, instead, more of non-fiction books. Spent around $90 for all 7 books so far.

And I gotta rep:

I don't see the big deal with textbooks. The tuition is where the rip-off is. I mean, it's already $75 to submit an application that takes only 5 minutes to go over.
