those are exactly the type of people that mccain is tryin to swag...stupid idiotic people..who would vote for someone based on their appearance rather than on their ability to do a good job.

How could anyone vote for this woman man...she is a complete opposite of hilary...and lets face it..shes not ready to be president..mayb she could b a VP..but mccain is like 72 and he has medical problems..wut if he dies in office..this bitch is def not ready to run an entire country....like seriously wtf

Some of u actually know a bit of politics.

How many of u voted for obama bc he,a black? I know a lot of u did, so in turn do u consider yourself dumb?

I think this was a smart choice for mccain to make. It actually shows that he is not desperate by picking a risky vp choice. Unlike obama who picked biden to fill the gaps in his thin resume.

On experience, she has two years of more executive experience than mccain, obama and biden. So when ppl say she doesnt have more experience than obama, r u essentially saying that obama's experience is as low as an candidate can g0?

I would write more but I hate these I touch keys

Eh, that is a little too extreme my brother. Now that I really really look at it, there is going to be a small consistency of idiotic Hilary supporters who go straight to this woman simply because she is a woman but you have to have some faith in the human race that they are smarter than that.

Not to mention she is as rifle toting, NWA membership shouting, extremely conservative and almost against womens rights as they could possibly come.

At the same time I don't think Diane is right either. I think McCain is extremely desperate. When your opponent is easily filling stadiums with 85,000 thousand people and you are struggling to get 10,000 for your address it would be impossible to think that he is not at least desperate and yearning for some attention.

Add to the fact that geniusly they release the announcement the day after Obama's speech totally taking away all of the talk that should be going on about his speech and shifting it to this new angle. Desperate, jealous, nervous choose what you want to call it.

^ its a known fact about the demographics of country bumpskins that vote conservative compared to the more enthusiastic college drivened liberal nut who thinks he can change the world by voting liberal.

Contrary to popular belief, stadium numbers do not necessarily dictate results. because of the huge influx of superb marketing, obama has infact become that "celebrity" guy he is trying to sway away from.

What McCain did was take a gamble by picking a less experienced candidate from an obscure state because he knows that he needs something different to counter the balance provided by Obama/Biden. Obama being inexperienced and Biden having more political weight under his belt than a sumo wrestler. Same with McCain and the later.

haha its called politics, its a competiton. Last night obama had the ball and today mccain has it. It was a smart politcal move for him to announce his running mate today. Thats not desperation its smart. That's like 50 cent posting free downloads of the games album LOL.

Would mccain like more free media time like the media's darling obama of course! But what u guys happen to miss is that even without the hype and attention obama is just above mccain by 9 points I think. By the time Kerry accepted his nomination he was up by 17 points! Obama went on of Public relations tour thru Europe has 200,000 europeans gathered to hear him speak; that gave him a whopping 10 point lead for the lengthy time of 1 week. Last week some polls had mccain up, of course within the margin of error but the obama camp must be worried.

So I ask u, coming into the election mccain didn't even think he could win his party's nomination let alone win the election and today he sees himself within the margin of error of possibly becoming the next president even when his own party's incumbent pres has less than a 30% approval raitng, a meaniless war, and horrible economy all blamed to his party so who is really despret? I think mccain is hopeful. The democrats r now desperate another election they thought they had in the bag has a good chance of slipping away

Oh yes, grab those disaffected Hilary supporters Mr. McCain.

That's basically what he's trying to do. Anything to win the election. It just shows how full of shit he is cuz they don't even agree on a lot of the same issues. Yet they're on the same ticket. Interesting...

Obama got all the attention, because he did something that was highly successful. Not even his biggest critics can say that his speech was subpar. Mccain is now "holding the ball" in terms of your analogy, because he did something unexpected and risky. He isn't getting attention, because his VP pick is widely considered a sound choice.

Announcing palin as vp a month ago would have been a far more intelligent move. Then he would have really lived up to the "groundbreaker", "maverick" names given to him. Choosing a female vp now, just looks like a reactionary move to steal dissatisfied clinton supporters. Do you really think choosing a pro-life, pro big oil, hunting advocate, with ties to pat buchanan (an enemy of israel), is an intelligent way to counter the charge that mccain represent the old politics of the bush administration?

Plus, your discussion of the points differential is misleading. Mccain was only even to up earlier, because Obama was on vacation. In terms of your sports analogy, that's like a team catching up, by scoring while the other team was in the locker room. If that's what it takes to get up, there's a problem.

If mccain (or his advisors) didn't think he could be successful, nobody would have invested the money necessary to fund his campaign. Period. Plus, the fact that he's enjoying some level of success while bush has a low rating doesn't mean anything, because mccain has made a concerted attempt at separating himself from bush. Hence his "change that makes sense" line earlier.

I think it's too early to say whether this pick is smart or not. It all boils down to whether or not people can look beyond the media representation of palin, and see what her stances really are. If people are sick of bush, and consider her stated positions, then this pick may have been the misstep that puts obama in office. If people (female clinton supporters especially) get wrapped up in the potential for a landmark female holding office, it may be exactly what mccain needs to capitalize on obamas decision to leave hillary out.

EDIT: Mccain and palin don't agree on abortion. Palin is mad pro life. She says that a woman who is raped should have to carry the child to term, and not have the choice to abort it. She is ridiculously religious. She wants to teach creationism in public school right alongside darwin and evolution. Palin would essentially have kids go around believing dinosaurs were really walking around at the same time as men lol.

Excuse the typo on the NWA Lango^

his own party's incumbent pres has less than a 30% approval raitng, a meaniless war, and horrible economy all blamed to his party

For the exact reasons that you stated coupled with the fact that it is becoming the Obama campaign's favorite slogan to remind the entire American public that McCain votes with Bush 90% of the time how could John McCain be anything but worried for the entirety of the race? You said it yourself the odds seem impossible for the Republicans.

Hopeful that he can turn it around? Sure he has to be, but you have to admit the situation is dire so being desperate to bring any and all attention to his camp has to be obvious.

Granted I agree with most of what you said, of course its genius politics to release the info the day after the convention that's common sense and been done tons of times before.

Kick my brother first off good to see you son son. Second off, obviously stadium crowds do not produce winners straight up we all know this. As soon as I saw the proceedings last night I thought it was one of the most backwards things the Obama camp could have done. You don't shed a celebrity rockstar image by packing a stadium with fireworks and a Broadway stage set but at the same time just by the fact that you can do such a thing has to put the other party into some sort of state of general worry. When have you ever seen a political event like that? Ever?

All in all I don't want to argue about this. I'm the son of a raging conservative and a staunch liberal so I just hear it all over the place anyway speak away.

Mayor of a town of 8,000 and Governor less than 2 years of a state of 200,000. Good pick aesthetically but beyond logic imo.

Speaking to her experience, she really has nothing to brag about. Anyone whose political resume includes being PTA president (peep the NY Times article about her) really should not be a heartbeat (and knowing Mccain it's probably an irregular heartbeat at that) away from being leader of the free world.

The thing about her that epically disturbs me about her is how she feels high and mighty for being a "good person" by not getting an abortion after she found out one of her kids had downs syndrome before his birth. She plays this out like she should fucking get a Nobel Prize for not aborting her mentally challenged son.

Apart from her weaknesses, Biden and Obama complement each other like a classic buddy cop movie (imagine Obama as the loose cannon rookie whose always done things on his own taking on a grizzled veteran cop for a partner and taking down the corrupt business/drug dealers)

Plus $20 says Mccain is hitting it.
