Yes. It's a definite upgrade from XP. If you're coming from vista it's more of a side grade. If you have a @ edu email it's definitely worth picking up for $30 at win741.com
Rain meter x64 beta, definitely takes a bit of tweaking and trial and error editing the skins. Relatively easy though. Icon's I used reshack to change the icons, also requires a handful of trial and error. I started off with mozilla since that's where I saw the tutorial on changing the icon. iconpacks.mozdev.org/docs/windows-integration.html Don't bother downloading the other program, only way to get the Icons to reload is usually flushing the icon cache followed by logging on and off. The IM client is digsby, hands down best one out for windows.
The last icon on my taskbar is Stacks for Windows, similar to mac osx's lifehacker.com/5294161/standalonestack-is-an-awesome-file-browsing-widget
