Is it NYC, LA or what? For me it has got to be VA Beach/Norfolk. Every where you go there is a streetwear store and everywhere you go you see some dope fits. What do you guys think?

You only call Japanese and Hong Hong people sneaker heads because all the shit you're trying to look for like SB's and other "limited" stuff is available like GR's over there. They're not really into them, they just get them

never been to tokyo but i've heard that fashion is very area specific there, like there are areas of tokyo where ppl tend to have very defined looks(i.e. harajuku), so there are areas that tend to have a lot of streetwear folks (kinda like some areas of downtown manhattan or fairfax in LA) and areas where ppl have a whole different look. From what i've heard Tokyo has a very high number of sneaker boutiques and skate/streetwear spots (i mean japan does have 4 supreme shops after all and tokyo has got 2 of em) so there must be a large number of sneakerheads fueling such high demand to keep all those sneaker/streetwear spots in business.

Got a friend from HK though and he says that sneakers there are taken very seriously there but i dunno if that eclipses places like nyc/tokyo/la.

I was born and raised in NYC - lived here for all 28 of my years...

I can't call it...I very rarely see people wearing quickstrike or tier 0 sneakers. If you hang around LES or Soho obviously you might see some, but you could also say VA Beach has lots of sneakerheads because you were hanging around *insert name of va beach sneaker shop here* and you saw lots of sneaker heads.

Maybe it's just that it's such a huge city with such a large population and it's still such a niche culture. I will say this: NYC kids stay on top of GR's, and your average high school student probably has multiple NDS pairs of GR's to match with their outfits. So in that sense I would say that NYC is big on casual sneaker heads, but in terms of seeing random cats wearing really rare and valuable sneakers...not counting hanging around sneaker shops, or at events, I rarely see anything to suggest that the culture has a really noticeable presence here...same with Streetwear...

Then again, I'm old, and I don't really go out that much anymore...
