even though 78 and master and milspex are all elitist, they do know their fashion and have the advantage of living in japan, the epicenter of streetwear.

Thank you Skid for the well thought out response

Nice insight into ideas of consumerism, marketing, numerous aspects of social interests/theory.

I'd like to say that all my fashion decisions were my own but I'm really not that narrow minded or delusional to think in that way. I understand my ideas and ways of coming to conclusions regarding anything in life are heavily influenced by the culture surrounding me. Which, needless to say is thusly influenced by consumerism among numerous other modern day ideologies. It's what defines so much of my daily thought/activity that to escape it would be impossible.

Because of this, I am okay with consumerism, I am okay with everything that is culturally "American" because to be completely rejecting of it, that would still be a cliche emotional response directly influenced by it. I'd rather work with what I know (because I've lived it my entire life) in a way that promotes intelligence, critical thinking etc, rather than ignorantly rejecting it and learning nothing from it.

consumerism, trends, sheeplike mentality, these are all good things. They keep the cycle of production/selling/buying going and keeps the money flowing. Social asymmetry is a necessary foundation of capitalism, growth and progress. I don't think it's necessary to think about it too much, why attempt to place value on something that's indefinable? It's good to be aware of the angles, but I don't think you can ever fully detach yourself from the concept. Every human activity is some form of consumerism, it's the base of society and life.

...but like, madeinchina...that ***** was dressed by hb...it's like, we told him what to like...granted, his fits are MUCH better...but dude prolly got rid of stuff that he actually liked just to fit in so to speak...that's gay. Like what you like...

[/end rant]

yah i'll admit hypebeast dressed me for a little while, but now i feel as if im slowly but surely branching out and dressing myself. trust me though, i can care less about fitting in on hb lol, i like hb because everyone on here helps point me in a good direction in terms of fashion. No, i never got rid of what i actually liked. What i liked was dressing nice and jordans lol. A couple years ago, dressing nice to me was matching head to toe, wearing xl shirts wiht jorts and j's. now as i grow older, my tastes change, and so what i like changes as well. not everyone can like the same things forever.

No neck but Jacob and MadeinChina are my favorite wdywt posters.

haha thanks smile

haha yeah come to think of it, even in an HB capital like HK, i don't think I've ever bumped into anyone who dresses HB style, let alone with the level of detail of 5th D.

Word. I like some fits on there, but it it gets too much I start to not get/understand 5th d style when it gets OD like that. The top looks like he's getting ready to climb a mountain, then he's got on jeans, then he's got on Basketball sneakers. Maybe he has brand synergy, but it looks akin to if I wore a kimono and some dress shoes with a new era in that it just makes no sense to me whatsoever.
