^i'm in the exact same situation as you, i've wanted one since i was 14.

although i'm not too worried about it being meaningful, i just want it to be timeless and not get played out. but can't really predict what will get played out

I guess this shit is corny to some, but the only real serenity I seem to have is with nature. Ever since I was a kid I always found a strong connection to the outdoors, both flora and fauna. So, I got the idea to contact an artist friend of mine to come up with something that shows man connection to nature. It's simple, and I was thinking of putting it under my left forearm. Thoughts?

There isn't a definite perspective. So the hand "reaches" out in different directions.

Is it original? If so, then you should go for it.

I wouldn't place it on my left forearm though because 1) the place doesn't seem to hold much significance when it comes to that image and how it means to you and 2) it wouldn't look that great to have an image of a hand/tree on your forearm when your actual hand would be just mere inches away.

I would place it in my inner thigh, so it'll look like the hand is about to touch or cup my balls.

But in all seriousness, I think you can do a lot better than left forearm.

It is original. I don't know where else to put it, that's the only problem I seem to have because I was thinking the exact same thing (proximity to my hand).

You can't tell whether its back of a right hand or inside of a left one

I can tell thats the left hand because the way the lines are drawn to make the hand look bent alittle(could be drawn alittl better though).. Also seems like a cool idea but i agree i wouldnt put it on my forearm and would go for the ribs for a better placement.

You should have it inked on your stomach. The pubes can be part of the roots.

Jaykay.

But I'd probably go with the ribs/sides too.

What of?

I've wanted a tattoo since my freshman year in high school. I'm in college now, but I still haven't gotten one because I simply have no idea what to get inked on my body.

Haven't been able to think of anything meaningful yet.

Is that Leviathan?

Why would you want a Biblical sea creature on your forearm? Other than it looking "cool"?

Because 1) it'll be a complete waste if it holds no significance to him and 2) if he wants something "cool" inked on his arm, there are better things he can look for.

Really though, if the image doesn't hold any significance, then I really suggest you find something better.

Gustave Dore drew that image that you post of Leviathan. And he's drawn better things in my opinion.

This is from Dore's illustration of Orlanda Furioso, which is extremely similar to The Destruction of Leviathan. This is my suggestion

Because im into biblical art. And im a christian, so I like to get christian based tattoos, and its an ingraving inspired by Isaiah 27:1: "In that day, the Lord will punish with His sword, His fierce, great and powerful sword, Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; He will slay the monster of the sea."

Fair enough. Very interesting choice of art, I have to admit.

as the wise Eaton once said "people just say tattoos hold meanings as another reason to get them"

so basically you shouldnt need anymore of an excuse than just liking the art itself
