My tattoos don't have any personal meaning. I may be biased, but I believe tattoos that mean something to you at your point in time will eventually fade and turn to regret. Great design has more longevity especially if you get it from someone who really hones the craft.

pretty much healed at this point. im getting it touched up sometime next month. tattoo #2 coming soon as well.
Feb 04, 2012 @ 22:49

Got my first tattoo yesterday in memory of my grandma. Didnt wanna get the standard so I got one based on her being native american and also how the one of the first things she bought for me and the last thing she bought before she passed was a dream catcher.
Sorry for size.

@Dead Pool I was thinkin of gettin that bernini angel piece too. It was either that one or the angel with the lance. On average how much would you thin to get it done probably gettin on my upper arm and who would you recommend if you know any around the bay area.
Feb 23, 2012 @ 04:46

not exactly traditional cause theres shading in the flames and other things here and there. buttttt im happy with it. gotta do the wind bars, then start the other arm.
Feb 23, 2012 @ 09:13
This is really cool tattoo design, after adding a cross in the design it looks more attractive and classy.

from ghost in the shell anime

some1 already did it though, looks cool except too much yellow for me

Definitely planning on a GitS tattoo at some point, unsure of what though. Don't want to seem excessive either because I will be getting my left shoulder/arm done like Tetsuo merging with Akira(the texture, no portrait) when I find someone that can do both biomech and colour. Thinking maybe Motoko and the Puppet Master from the discussion near the end of the first film.

GitS has plenty of meaning, it's all about 'what is human?' in a world in which computers/tech is so ingrained into everyday life, to the point where your thoughts/memories/etc. can be converted to digital information and stored in a 'cyberbrain'. I see a lot of truths in GitS, especially seeing as I believe in transhumanism. The Akira tattoo I want is just because I think it would be visually appealing and would look okay on my noodle-arms, but it'd def be for a love of cyberpunk as well.

no hate, but all three are poorly executed.

I can't really give you an estimate. You can pay $500 for a mediocre job or pay a couple g's for a top finish. I paid around $2000 for mine. I don't have any recommendations in the bay area. If you can make a trip to LA, definitely hit up the boys at lowrider studios. Jun, Jose, and Klown are all top tier artists. Jun and Jose are usually booked for a year+, but you should be able to get a session with Klown within 2-3 months. Expect to shell out at least $2000 if you book with them, though.
Mar 04, 2012 @ 02:01
Deadpool who did your Bernini piece?

+1 on Klown, i flew down to LA last year to get some work done by him. Really cool and chill guy and his work is definitely under appreciated. Got started on a leg sleeve and got the front on my lower leg blasted, I'm gonna fly in again next month to finish back of my leg. Klown always tries to accomodate ppl that are flying in to get work done, real stand up guy.
Klown's black and gray work does have a real jailhouse influence, its real soft and and blends into the skin. Recently i've been looking at work from ppl like steve soto and fernie and really like how there work is darker and... grittier? might get one of them to do my other leg

The ones I posted aren't actually mine, just trying to get some ideas.
Mind posting one you think isn't poorly executed?

Does anybody know the proper "guest-spot" tattooer etiquette? Like, a popular artist traveling around hitting various cities and making appointments in them. By "etiquette" I mean, what is the preferred maximum size of the tattoo? Because they obviously won't have time to do a half sleeve or anything.

I don't know the extent of trip, or how long the artist will be in town, but I'm curious if there's a standard for size.

- thanks

EDIT: oh, and by the way... would it be welcome by a majority of the 'elite' tattooers if you just say something like "the placement is _______, and as for what I want, just freestyle whatever you'd like in *insert color scheme here*"? Always been curious.
