How hard is it to make this a reality.. Like realistically how much would it cost.. Where would the best place to go be... I'm think tokyo and just be in the heart of shit, but maybe thats gonna be too expensive. Has any of you beasters gone to japan before? Roughly how much did it set you back and was it worth it? smokeyface

Going to Japan for hypebeasters is like going to Toysrus for 6 year olds. It's the heart of most streetwear. Realistically, Tokyo and Osaka are almost parallel in terms of streetwear and Osaka doesn't damage your bank account as much. Still, it is expensive but believe me, it's an incredible experience.

BTW, getting there and returning set me back around 3000 Canadian. Not including the goods of course smokeyface

I'm planing to go there this summer. Although I want to check some stores, I'd like to see some old japanese culture, which means being away from big towns.

your best bet, if youre going solo, have no guide and know NO japanese is try to find those vacation week deals thru different travel companies. alot of my friends have done it and have had tons of fun. if you are going by yourself, again with no guide or language, id advise trying to stay the absolute closest to shibuya/harajuku as possible, as thats where the stereotypical japan wear shops are. the hotels in that area are pretty pricey, but when you factor in getting lost/train time, you shoudl be fine.

from the airport its about 1 hour to 1.5 hours to shibuya (from narita airport). you can go by either train or bus.

the cool part about the vacation deals is they provide everything (transportation to and from airport and hotel) so you dont gotta worry about it.

if u have a PSP, u could get that translator program... i think it does English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean... and it has some type of mic that attaches to it

Hong Kong was fucking amazing. There were so many places to go and shop. Food and stuff is hella cheap compared to tokyo which raped me in the butt. Plus Hong Kong has so much history. Heres a pic i took looking down on Hong Kong island from Victoria peak.

Its also not that hard to get around tokyo without speaking japanese. Most people actually speak pretty good english, especially the younger generation. The train system in tokyo is incredible and fairly easy to understand with all the maps and stuff.

I know Hong Kong has really strict laws. I think you can get heavily fined for spitting out gum.
