Thinking of moving to LA at the end of the summer. What neighborhoods are good to live in? What's a safe and affordable neighborhood with good walkability?

lol youre gonna be so over living in sylmar, dont do that. there are very nice areas in the sfv for sure. i lived there for 8 years and never saw much crime at all, but i was like 45 min from downtown la up in the canyons. echo park/silverlake area is chill but kinda grimey these days and full of hipsters. santa monica is nice, tons of dimes everywhere n shit but not the cheapest place to live. your call bruh.

That's hard to say without budget or your expected commute to work/school.

Commute is a big thing, and I'm sure you've heard the doldrums that we call freeways can get pretty congested

Fucking crackheads and meth fiends walking around and sleeping at every corner. Also cholos trying to hit licks daily, you gotta watch your back and shit to or just look straight up broke. Not sure if you're serious or trolling

Don't even get me started at police...

Sylmar is only nice if you go to the far back past the jail, the part where you go north on the 405 and exit before you hit Santa Clarita. If you're near the high/Pacoima/San Fernando, it's not that great.

It's pretty safe imo. you just can't be a pussy when you're living in those area. yes, pacoima has its ups and downs but its chill.

Studio City, Northridge, Woodland hills, Van Nuys and North Hollywood other towns i'd recommend. Fuck It San Fernando Valley is safe.

Affordable to people in California & affordable to everyone else are completely different concepts. You can get a 5 bedroom house in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the same price as a 2 bedroom apartment in Inglewood.

Chicks barely dancin, glancin every chance they get, like - oh shit, he's so HANSUM

Yeah, Sylmar area kind of a toilet. As are Pacoima, San Fernando and Van Nuys. Its wetback city; and I'm Mexican and can't even hang with it. I live in Santa Clarita though and everybody is lily white.

That's not even LA anymore.^^ Try the Griffith Park, Glendale, or Los Feliz. Those places are pretty safe and have affordable housing. Plus, they have lots of things that are in walk-able distance.

I don't think West Cov, Pasadena, or Mont Park are in Los Angeles city limits. LA county yes but not part of LA city.

My misunderstanding then. He just said LA so I assumed all of LA County.

Its all just technicalities though. Shit you can see downtown from areas in Monterey Park its just where the city draws its lines. He'd be cool in Pasadena or SM but shit can be pricey out there. Something tells me OP aint got much $$ to spend.

Loz Feliz, Griffith area affordable? idk about that breh, maybe in certain areas

Gardena-Torrance seems decent depending on the area. I don't think it's too expensive but I'm not sure
