About 3months ago i was driving my friends home at 4am from their party night. I didn't have a drop of alcohol because i was designated driver, but i was pulled over for going through a yellow. He didn't breathalyze me. Tomorrow i go to court for pleading not guilty for my red light ticket. It was non-camera. My case is that i was located at intersection when the light turned yellow and then red. I was driving 25mph on a 40, and i was traveling North to South, while the officer was traveling West to East. Is there any sort of information that i could possible use that could help me do well in this trial?

you should've stopped when the light turned yellow. yellow doesnt mean go. it means to slow down and stop.

plead not guilty.
if cop doesnt show up to trial, you win.
if cop shows up to trial, chalk it up as an L and do traffic school.

Why does everyone believe this? Cop not showing up, does not equal a win in all places.

I know in the dmv the cops have a quota and 8/10 if you get a ticket for bs if you go to court the cop will just not show up and you don't have to pay

If you really did pass through a yellow(which isn't illegal to do in itself) you could have filed for discovery for the police dash cam footage that would have showed you passing through a yellow, and you could have used that in court. Not all departments have dash cams though. Check and see if they have cams in their cars by calling, and see if they still have footage, although this was 3 months ago, so it's a long shot. This is probably he only way you can beat this besides a cop not showing up, since the citing officer is the only witness for the prosecution, plus cops get OT for going to court and written up if they dont.

you are obviously supposed to slam on the brakes if you see yellow thus leaving you stranded in the middle of the intersection

^this. However, if cop do show up.. talk to the judge and tell him your story. Tell him that you were doing your due diligence and was responsible for being the designated driver and preventing drunk driving form occurring. Also, you might want to mention that this is a first time offense and that you do not have the money to pay the fee. You can also plea ignorance. Don't quote me on this but I've had friends pleaded for a reduction in fees (reduce from a few bills to significantly lower amount), stating that they are first time offenders and that it did not occur to them that what they did was illegal. An honest answer and pointing out some positive things may do wonders for you. Aim for sympathy brah.
