I'll let you guys do your homework since I'm not your portfolio manager, unless you want to pay me, but there are a few new IPO's coming out in the next 1-2 years that are going to in a sense, use lasers to shoot down meteors in outer space, then recover the fragments, and bring it back to earth. So instead of diamonds and gold, you can have out-of-this-earth materials....

This will not be available in 1-2 years... Much more research needs to be done even before these materials are used.

I've been hearing lots of rumbling surrounding an IPO in specific that is claimed it will launch seeking 1 trillion, which is insane, but I couldn't really think of anything else cooler to maybe get in at the ground floor than that

Take it with a grain of salt. I doubt it's true.

This is hilarious to me seeing as I work as an Equity Research Associate at an international investment bank at the LA/OC office..... you guys do not know what you are talking about. Kudos for trying, but there are so many additional things that you have to consider when properly investing in stocks. You do not simply speculate on whether it will go down or not, you need to do your due diligence from channel checks and competitor read-throughs to trading volumes and free cash flow generation. You have to read the K's and Q's and listen in on conference calls. You have to become the resident expert on your set of companies. I personally work in the Industrials and Global Energy sector, which is boring as fuck, but I'll give you guys two good picks from my senior analyst (Institutional Investor All 2nd team, JPMorgan alum, Bear Stearns alum, Jeffries alum).

Ticker: POWR (we rated it a buy in 2010)
MPAA (rated a buy in 2012) don't mind the negative EPS

Cheers and good luck!

PS. the trillion dollar IPO is a myth
PPS. so is the laser blasting asteroid killer that brings krypton back to earth

investment banking pays the bills

I don't expect many people on this forum to invest in anything but clothes. Although a few people contributed, as you did, which is nice.

Saw that smokeyfacesmokeyface its up to 55.60 right now. I was starting to question myself on the purchase. Now I'll second guess myself if I don't sell and it goes back down.

Personally, I'm holding onto it. It's predicted to go up 30%/yr for the next 10 years.

I made close to 200% so far, but I'm keeping it as a long-term stock.

Good time to invest (long-term) as the market is dropping due to panic from oversea economical issues.

You dont want to catch a falling knife though. Why would you invest when the market is dropping lol. If anything, if you feel very bear-ish, start shorting and when the market uptrends and your indicators are proven, start buying.

Of course I'd want to invest when it's dropping, it's just the matter of right timing.
