Just hit $1200

Friend got in for $5,000 when it was at $90, and sold it when it went up to $250ish. He's kicking himself right now.

Wow I'm sitting here wishing I even invested when it was at 500 a share, that's still doubling your money.

How do you even sell them?

This might give you a better idea of how the market or setting up, buying, and selling works.

Saw this.. 24k the kid made.

http://www.seattlepi.com/technology/businessinsider/article/This-College-Kid-Made-Over-24-000-Yesterday-Just-5025855.php
My friend invested $2,500 in February of this year and got around 100 coins. When the price of bitcoin went up, he pulled out his $2,500. If he were to cash out today, his bitcoin would net him around $100,000. Problem with that is capital gains tax, which takes a huge chunk if you cash out before a year has passed, so he basically has to hope that it doesn't shit the bed again in the next couple months. He is a firm believer in it, but I have a lot of doubts.

the operators of the sheep marketplace ran off with the money, so its mostly the vendors who got screwed over not average buyers..in any case this has nothing to do with the validity of cyrpto-currencies as a whole. It's much bigger than drugs my friend.

A college student quickly made over $24,000 just by waving this sign on TV.

Is she constantly posting selfies? If yes, why is she seeking attention from other men?

Yes... I know it's bigger than black market dime bags.But this example is still relevant. Yes, it's on a smaller scale but it also exposes the holes in the "crypto-currency" game by it being all digital it can vanish or be hacked into still quite easily. Let alone the unstable market values you have to gamble with. If you got the money to play with go for it. But I still think they have a long ways to go as far as insurance & security of this form of currency.

It'll be very unlikely to see bitcoin last, as most "virtual currencies" always fall, since they are not protected nor represent anything if you really think about it.

I can't see bitcoin in the long term, I believe it will fail. I do think it can change the way people think about money, paving the way for private, digital, competing currencies. After all, the singularity is coming..

if you're going to invest in bitcoins do it because you believe in the concept of bitcoins and see it being successful in the long term.

if your trying to get rich quick you will get burned.

well in Oct it was trading less than 200 and in Jan around 13 so id say they're looking pretty good.
I never said it wasn't volatile.
Reason for the "crash" was China pretty much banned it...but China bans everything, FB/Twitter etc. so it was kind of expected.
@enterthewu is right..the bitcoin network is unaffected and if youre just tryna make a quick buck, this aint for you

Volatility, tail end risk, not the same thing. Right now it still is speculation whatever you all might think. There is almost no way to predict accurately what the fuck is going to happen, IDC what economist fuck thinks or says. Like that dude said, buy in if you legitimately want to grow BitCoin. If you want to make a quick buck, and you weren't already investing in stocks for that same reason, you're likely too stupid to know when or even why to do what you do. If you make money, good for you, you were lucky. Just don't give people bullshit reasons for why you made money, because likely you're wrong.

it's not going to last. Bitcoin is the modern gold. Just like the gold rush, the buzz blew up the value. Us talking about bitcoins, the news covering bitcoins, or 2 dogs talking about bitcoins technically all drive up the value as more people know (more demand).

But just like gold, it will come down and stabilize.

gold = physical commodity
bitcoin = digital (dumb) commodity

invest your time and $ elsewhere
