One movie?

What is the movie you cannot live with out?
Why do you like it so much?

Your personal favorite movie not the movie you think everyone else will upvote.

No one better not give me shit for this either but my favorite is 'The Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy'
No one better say its because its Zooey Deschanel to because its legitamately my favorite movie. She's just a plus.
It has aliens, robots, death, comedy and more its just my favorite of all time.
I seriously can't live without it.

I would like to know what y'all's favorite movie is.

Are you really? I've been contemplating going to film school also, or pulling a Tarantino and starting out by making films on the side of a steady goal or in his case a day job, just in case things don't go as planned.
And Harmony Korine is a great writer, he's inspired many of my short stories.

ya man honestly you dont really need to go to school if you are motivated. i got a scholarship to world renowned art school so i decided to go for it but really you should just try to get involved in the industry somehow, start working as on commercial film sets, maybe even for free at first if it will get you in later. its all about making connections.

TRAINING DAY

I'm a movie buff and there are plenty of better movies, of course, but this one came out at the right time in my life and is just the perfect blend of a lot that I love - characters, setting, plot, direction. I know all the words. Back in college we used to let it play over and over again. Love that movie.

Forrest Gump was just corny nostalgia porn cashing in on Baby Boomers, it wasn't anything special.

Classic Hollywood:
Paris - When it Sizzles. It's a lot of people's least favourite Audrey Hepburn movie, but I think it was the most perfect romcom ever made.

Classic Japanese:
Woman in the Dunes. The lighting and feels. I think I could watch Kurosawa period dramas with more frequency, but I still hold Teshigahara's films in a higher regard.

Contemporary Japanese:
Blue Spring (Aoi Haru). There have been scores of Japanese films with the same subject matter, but Blue Spring was perfection. The only good time-lapse you'll ever see in a feature-length. Plus, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant did the score, which accompanies the movie perfectly.

Contemporary North American:
Primer. Steeped in esoteric dialogue, you're really not sure if you're just not following or if the writers were just bull-shittin', but considering it's about time travel, it adds to the film's effect. Made on something like $8k and with only ~5m of film cut from the final, it's just impressive.

Animation is a tough one. As far as adult-oriented goes, I'd say Ghost in the Shell. Youth-oriented, probably Howl's Moving Castle.

My pick would have to be GoodFellas. No matter how many times I've seen it, I never get sick of it and always find new ways to appreciate the little nuances in the film. Plus who doesn't love a good mob movie?
