haha not literally, but if your a slim guy your going to need to up your caloric intake...oats are an easy and cheap way of  doing so cleanly.

I'm 5'10" 152lbs (give or take a few), my dietary habits are like 2,400 calories a day or so
I'm not big on calorie counting....More just listening to your body.
In saying that start with about 2,700, especially if you're young and/or have a fairly fast metabolism...then work your way up from there slowly.

For you roughly 40% of your caloric intake should be low GI carbs, 25% Protein, and 35% good fats.

Someone else feel free to jump in here though as I'm no expert.

lol @ people arguing about different methods. sure some might work better than others for people but overall the most important aspect is staying consistent.

consistently eat well - consider food as fuel rather than a way to relieve hunger
consistently hit the gym to improve strength and cardio
consistently get good rest

follow that formula and you'll be straight

yea but being a skinny ass dude like mack is basically the same. When your metabolism is fast, you gotta get some junkfood in there. Its science not opinion

Man shut the fuck up. The reasons to eat alot of that those things is to
1: Maintain a steady insulin level throughout the day(won't matter in a caloric surplus you will have the energy regardless)
2: getting slowly releasing carbs and slow digestion(highly irrelevant, if not counterproductive)
3: Nutrient density (not important either, as this will only limit the amount of calories you get)

The only thing counter-productive here is a diet where you are not stuffing your face with a few cheeseburgers in between your real meals when being frail with a fast metabolism, stop trying to hold him back with your ignorance

mackness, at the end of the day you should read up on it and come to your own conclusion; as far as i'm concerned you said you don't want anything od. if you want to put on muscle, get a bit bigger and keep healthy then take my advice.

Not necessarily "junk food" (whatever that means) but i guess foods that are high in calories are good for bulking likee oats, whole eggs, red meat, peanut butter and etc.. Mack already pointed out he only needs 2400 calories to maintain
 so there's no need for him to go all out and get fat
