don't join the military if you a bitch and don't want to go overseas.. you get bank if you serve overseas though..
I aint no bitch. The point of me leaving the hood is so I don't lose my life over bullshit. Me dying overseas aint no different.
Why don't you just go to college . .
money? not all of have parents that can help us out. shit, scholarships only go so far and deferred loans rack up crazy interest if you go to a decent university. personally, im gonna get my bachelors in a year and cant afford law school anymore and im in way too much debt as it is. so im gonna join the military pretty soon, hopefully get deployed. by the end of it, you have an impressive resume. a bachelors at a uni, military service, and whatever further education you have (graduate program, law school, etc.)

be careful what you pretend to be

Let an OG ring in on dis here discussion fo a minute. I'm 45, I did 8 years in the Nav and I currently do as a civilian what I did in the Nav. I make over 100,000 a year based on a resume I build while in the Navy. OK pay attention:
1. If you got something good going on and you can see a future of happiness, don't enlist.( They will OWN YOUR ASS and you will do as instructed happy or not, rain or shine )
2. If you can't see tomorrow, your current life is a dead end but you got dat HS diploma...then seriously consider it.

The good side is that the job you do in the military will fill a resume when you get out.Employers love military dudes cuz thaey know you'll show up to work on time cuz it's been beat into yo hear, fo real. You get dat VA housing garuntee and  you get dat edjumacation paid for when you get out. Cash money fo real.
The bad side is you might hate it and 4 years is a long time to hate life. Trust me.

Would 4 years be the minimum amount of time you have to serve for all branches?

I knew a dude that served 2 years under a special program but that was back in the day. Check in with your local recruiter. If you are considering this be aware of the following:
1. Recruiters will LIE TO YOU! Get what you want in writing..period...don't be a pussy about it either.
2. Research the job you want. It may say Fireman but in reality you are just another mutherfucker in engineering.
3.Research the area you want to serve in. For the record, Guam SUCKS ASS!
4.Once you get all of your ducks in a row be ready to shine. The military loves a shiney mutherfucker. If you stay shiney you'll get fucked with a whole lot less.
5. Work that money, you want enlistment bonus, you want special promotion upon graduation packages, you want a garunteed school. Go in like a boss!

I'm partial to the Air Force or Coast Guard. The most kickass branches with the best living conditions. The military won't let me join, but I've heard deployment doesn't have to be too bad depending on where you go and what your job is. Join a Coast Guard Port Security Unit or some shit, and they when you do get deployed, it'll be for a hands on job and you won't be getting your ass shot off on the daily. Like above, I've been told by many a service member that recruiters will have no qualms about straight up lying to your face about anything. Never trust their word, it don't mean shit. Oh, and unless you're a 17 year old wannabe with a huge inferiority complex and a small penis who insists that Marines are the toughest bunch of people on the planet, even though you'll go on to be a band member or something, DON'T JOIN THE MARINES. I'll make fun of you.

i heard the marines is the best

the best is delta force,
those motherfuckers are so badass secret you cant even tell who is in it, i heard like 500 apply(and these applicants are baddass motherfuckers themselves, im talking green berets, marine recons and shit) and they only take like 2 at most,

it goes like this in terms of badassness
1-delta force
2-navy seals
3-green berets
4-army special forces
5-marines recon regiment
-from what i have heard

i heard that the best special forces group in the world is either russia's spetznas or british sas
hearing also that new zealand spec ops, australian spec ops, and swiss spec ops are up there as well

btw who is downvoting everything?

I'm in the Air Force as an aircraft maintainer. I advise you to not doing anything involved with the flight line/aircrafts if you like to have lots of free time or a set lunchtime in the military. You'll be worked like a slave. Do something office or medical related if you are aiming for that education. Enlist for 4 years.

It comes down to what you want to get out of the military?  I joined to pay my way through college.  I enlisted for two years originally and then re-enlisted for another four.  After that, I spent three and half years in the reserves and one year in the National Guard before I finally called it quits.  I got the opportunity to see Korea but wished I had the opportunity to see more of the world before I got out.

Do your research before you go in the recruiting office.  This gives you the advantage.  Don't be afraid to play off one branch of the service off another.  I originally planned to go into the Marines for three years but when I showed up to sign the papers, my recruiter told me I had to go in for five years.  I said I would need to think about it and then I walked down to the Army recruiters and used that information to get myself a two year active duty with a six year inactive ready reserve contract.

How hard would it be to get an office or medical related job as compared to a flightline/aircraft related job?

are you getting the bitches?and whats your mos
What's your mos btw?

I'm trying to go in as 25B (Information Technology Specialist) (wire dogs from what I've heard)
, which the army recruiter said they reserved for me, just gotta sign the contract down at meps.
I heard the army can be notorious about what the mos position describes and what you'll actually be doing.

If you try to join Air Force out of high school, they won't even talk to you because there is a year long wait for just a 6 year contract.

was going to join navy because there you can choose where you want to live sometimes depending on how well you do in A School, but they can't guarantee your job will be there at meps when you sign. They aren't suppose to sell you on your rate (job) because that's not what the navy is about, like you shouldn't be joining because of a certain job..

EDIT: P.S For a ts clearance be ready to take a polygraph, shit had me scared for days.

Pretty easy you just have to score well in admin,if you score well enough you can pick exactly want job you want, but whatever you do DO NOT take a maintenance job.

Airforce don't have too many great bases, Navy is pretty sick when it comes to travel cause there are ports everywhere, Austrailia,Europe, Japan,Hawaii etc.

Being on the boat out to sea sucks , but when you hit port and go on a pussy thon it really doesn't matter anymore.

If you want an easy bootcamp, good living conditions and a technical job or whatever go Air Force. If you once again want an easy boot camp and wanna get put on a ship and be on the ocean for like 6 months go to the Navy. If you want the hardest boot camp, like to shoot shit, PT join the Marine Corps. By the way i'm a Marine. So if you have any questions feel free to ask.

What are you talking about? It took me 6 months between MEPS and my departure date.
