im tryin to plan a trip to new york with some friends

is it really all that much more expensive than other places in terms of day to day living? i live in chicago and can live on like $15-20 a day for the most part, i know nyc is more expensive but my dads telling me to plan on like 50 a day for food, that seems high, what do you guys think? im no gonna be eating out at fancy restaurants and shit mostly just like mcd's, burrito/gyro joints and shit like that.

For the people who are still living at home, who live actually in NYC, what the fuck do your parents do for a living? I'd imagine it's even more expensive to live there with a family.

smh @ eating at McD's and other fast food places.
If you don't have money to try food, don't bother coming, it's obvious you can't afford this life.

That's Manhattan for you. Usually, the other boroughs charge a couple bucks less. I can get Newports here in Queens for $11.50, though I stay buying looseys.

I think you can get by with $15-20 a day, considering the type of food you suggested. That's about how much I spend a day. I'd say an average of $25 is more on par, since even fast food prices are a bit more expensive in Manhattan. With that being said, bring some extra funds just to be on the safe side.
