I have a 2 year old healthy black lab, and she's great. I was down at a local store getting her food and the pet store was having some sort of adoption program going on. They had a lot of rescued dogs there, one being blind and also deaf, a lot of people looked at it and felt bad, but then just walked away. So I sacked the fuck up and decided to start the process of adopting it, and should have it late this week or early next.

Just was wondering if anyone on here had pets, (possibly a dog) with conditions like this, or something similar. Also on top of that, I've never had two dogs before, so besides from the obvious shit like twice the food, toys, etc. Is there anything else special I should do? If you have any info/tips lemme know. Thanks.

I have always had 2 dogs and while there will be extra work with a second dog, they will keep each other entertained and happy which is especially great if you are busy. One of my dogs (before the 2 I have now) was epileptic and her health was pretty bad for a substantial portion of her life. She may have gone blind or deaf towards then end of her life and we just tried to keep her comfortable.

I would recommend making sure there are not sharp corners or objects around that could hurt the dog if it accidentally bumps into them, especially before the dog has mapped out the house. Help it learn the stairs and layout of it's new home. Remember that this will also be a big change for the lab you have now. If she is territorial, be careful that she doesn't feel threatened by the new dog coming into her home. If this is the case, maybe having the two dogs meet in a neutral location first would help? Try to give both dogs a lot of attention so they both feel like the other isn't causing them to be forgotten. I'm sure this will be a very rewarding experience and hopefully both dogs will be happier because of this adoption.

What kind of dog are adopting and how old is it?

Homie has a dog with neuro disorders, has a lot of seizures. It's a lot of work to keep them safe. Buy pet insurance too, it's good for healthy pets too, but necessary for those with disabilities. Good on you, but be prepared for lots of work.

I had a dog with 3 legs but that was worst health wise that I've had. I have had up to 4 dogs at the same time. It's basically the same in both situations

Chicks barely dancin, glancin every chance they get, like - oh shit, he's so HANSUM

Thanks for the info boss. The woman said it was a mutt, they weren't sure what breeds though, possibly husky. I'll post pics when I get him so you can see. And it's about 3-3 1/2 years old.

I'm not sure if this dog knows hand signals or not, I would think so because it's a bit older, but at this point I'm not really sure, but just curious, how hard was it to train the dog with hand signals? I trained my lab with the whole "sit, stay, lay down, etc" and it wasn't too difficult, would you say it's harder?

Mad props to you bruh. Honestly, from what ive learned with our toy fox terrier is, love that dog unconditionally and everything else will fall into place. Its crazy to say but im pretty sure It knows that youve given it a second chance when no one else would and for that, itll probably be the best pet youve ever owned.
