Opinions on a new car

Okay so I'm 21 and I have 2 years of college left. I have an old 2000 honda civic to trade in and will have about 3-4k by early next year. My honda has problems and I dont want to fix them. I have a part-time engineering internship job thats promised to me for the next few years. Currently I'm working full-time as its a co-op and making good money. Next semester I'll drop to part time and still be making decent money cause I'll be in school full-time instead of part time. I'm looking to get a new(used) car. I will be paying for it on my own. I can afford under 12k or so. Any suggestions? I don't want a coupe anymore It's all difficult and shit to get into I can appreciate the convenience of a 4-door but IDK what a good car would be.. Been leaning towards an a4 audi cause I like the body type but I think I'll get shit from my family for getting a foreign car while still in school any suggestions guys? I don't want some ford focus or some bs(sorry to those who have one) this honda has been great it's just been that starter car for me, I'm just looking for a 4 door car with a respectable body type.. And some power I spose smile I'm not really into cars like I want to be..

Why not get an old a4?

Are there other cars I should consider? I tried looking at cobalts but they're like 13k acuras and scions are pushing my budget too.. I'm just really partial towards the a4 right now.. but I know my uncle will give me shit.. Him and his wife make over 150k easy.

And it's easy spending less than 20k on a car.. Its called being in college and paying for your own shit lol. Even when I get my bachelors in EE I'm not buying anything over 30k..

Yeaaa not me lol. No prodigy at ALL. I'm just doing well for my age right now. So I'm trying to grab a decent car while things are easy for the time being. I def wanna do 4-6 cylinders to keep the gas low. I don't care about year as long as its not old as dirt like my 2000 LOL.

Who cares what you drive i find it working in a professional environment and showing you have a kinda crazy side outta work helps out with the ladies. They all serious and shit during work hours and like to unwind and chill after. I drive my bagged TL type S to work and in parking lot ive had 4 nurses ask for a ride cause it looks "cool" and "fun" when its slammed and i raise it up sometimes wish i wasnt married cause dayum smh pawg everywhere out here. My brand new hyundai Elantra was 15k.
A new car under 20k is definitely possible (i.e: hondas, etc)

If you looking for a car over 25k and you're 21 you're kidding yourself or you're a rich bastard.
You're better off holding off for 3 - 5 more years and saving up
