Initiative 502 led 56 percent to 44 percent in initial vote counts, with overwhelming support in King County, and was passing in other urban Puget Sound counties Pierce, Spokane and other counties.

If the results hold, one ounce of marijuana will be legal as of Dec. 6, and the state will begin a year-long process of creating a closed, tightly regulated and heavily taxed market for recreational marijuana sales at state-licensed retail shops.

Marijuana legalization was also passing in Colorado based on initial vote counts.

Neither state measure affects the federal ban on marijuana, creating a conflict that could potentially be resolved in court.

I've only been living in Washington for 2 months and this Liberal state is amazing, coming from Texas where most white folk are racist and way to Conservative to this state is a blessing.

Initiative 502 is not what is seems like. This law passing will make smoking weed a bigger problem in Washington. Cops will have the ability to test you for a DUID by testing your blood. So if you smoked weed a few days back and are randomly pulled over by a cop and he tests your blood you will be charged for a DUID.

See now that's some fucked shit good thing I don't drive. Wouldn't they still need probable cause tho? Cops don't just ask people to take a breathalyzer after a traffic stop unless they're suspected of drinking, so who's ever ride I'm in I'll just make sure it doesn't smell like green.

I mean yah probable cause but lets say you commit a traffic violation, there's nothing stopping them to check your blood level as well.

^Ok but why you so mad bro? I'm not worried about the logistics of the bill, legal means legal. As long as I can go to some state backed herb store, buy my green, smoke it and not have to worry about the cops on my ass I'm good. Ima do the same shit I did when it was illegal chill at the crib and blow now I just don't have to worry about nosey neighbors calling the cops

you understand the logic in what you are saying, right? if the law passes, cops can get you for driving high. If the law doesn't pass, cops can get you for carrying weed, smoking weed, driving high, selling weed, etc. etc. Which is worse?

So since marijuana will be treated like alcohol and can be purchased in stores, wouldnt it be harder to cop for people under 21?

Doesnt matter since it already passed, but Ill play 'devils advocate'

1.Under the current law, if you have literally ANYTHING in your system, that's sufficient grounds for a DUI.
2. It is now possible to tell the difference between active THC (Actively high), and carboxy THC (the stuff that stays in your system for four weeks). Under 502, they will have to make that distinction. The 5 ng limit is only for an active high (which lasts no more than about six hours).
3. Under 502, any given driver would have to actually show signs of impaired driving in order to get pulled over in the first place
4. 502 isn't perfect, but we've tried Sensible Washington's plan many times and it hasn't worked. Name me ONE time in which Sensible WA ACTUALLY got anything on the ballot. We can always revise the parts that don't work
5. The only thing a medical card is good for under the current laws is affirmative defense. 502 is going to grant definitive arrest protection for up to an ounce of straight weed for everyone 21 and over.

Also, this is actually a well written article with a good point.

They can still bust you for that. The real problem resides in the fact that cops have the ability to test you for having THC in your system, you will not be able to operate motor vehicles if the level of THC in your body is above 5ng/ml. THC remains in your system for a couple days above that level so if you smoked and then drive a few days later you can easily get fucked.

You guys act as if driving while high ain't a big deal and we have the right to do that shit. It's irresponsible and potentially dangerous anyway. It's simple just don't drive when you're high and you can enjoy ur bud without dealing w. The cops.. but with that being said I wouldn't wanna be the first to test this active thc limit out. You don't know what they may find regardless of if you feel fine or not.

Also I don't live in Washington but I see this as a W for that progress of legalization nationwide my dudes smokeyface

Not holding my breath for PA to even legalize it for medical purposes.

I prefer carcinogens to endorphins.
