I'd recommend Chase. If you can find a coupon they'll give you 125 to open an account, you'll need direct deposit though, just one direct deposit is good enough. And I don't know if this promotion is still going but I opened up with Chase two months ago and if I spent 500 dollars within 3 months they gave me 100 back. The 100 back was through points but you can cash those points in for money. They also have an awesome rewards program.

Wait for chase to have $200 bonus with dd for a checking account but u need $500 total in dd going into your account or you'll get a service fee. Chase does have good cc deals but 100 back on $500 spent in 3 months is not very good for what they've offered for their Chase Freedom cards. I cashed in on $300 bonus last fall, but if you keep looking they will offer them from time to time. I also got another chase cc that gave me 50,000 bonus points for their southwest airlines card for an annual fee of $69. 50,0000 points = to 2 roundtrip tickets if you want to fly to NY from CA, or you can get a $500 amazon gc. They key with that is cancel before the annual renewal date...
