Thinking about getting back into painting, haven't been writing for years now, and even though I haven't been painting I've still been on my blackbook shit. Just really thinking about if it's worth it or not?

I got caught back when I was in high school, painted near my school and alot of kids saw it, and my name somehow got pushed around and the cops came by my house, and found my blackbook and supplies. I was a minor at the time, and got off really easy, only some community service and a fine.

But now I'm getting older, I'm working, and I'm in school, and I don't really know if it's a good idea. Anyone who's a bit older still paint? Or did you just say fuck it?

If you enjoyed doing it, by all means go for it. But the consequences if you get caught now are more intense.

That's what I was going to do, change the name I write under, and paint in different (probably more low-key) spots.

But that's the only thing that's holding me back brybo. It's the consequences of painting now that I'm older, I'm not trying to catch some time for painting, don't get me wrong though, I beyond enjoyed doing it, I love it. And for the most part I really didn't paint in any spots that it was going to be noticed. For me it isn't about getting up, or getting my name out there. I just miss going out at night, painting, checking different spots out, shit like that.

Man do what you love. If you don't, you'll regret it.

It doesn't HAVE To be illegal either. Many cities have spots reserved for legal graff, it's like a community whiteboard. So fun.

You have the talent, why not look into other kinds of art? You could literally do whatever you wanted.

I don't want to waste it, it's just an art form society frowns upon. Even when I'm not destroying buildings, I'm painting in spots people don't really even go to.

I've looked into permission walls, and there's like one in Philly. I might check it out, it would really help if there were more though.

I actually don't I had a few pics but they were taken when I got caught. I really wasn't into taking photos of my pieces, it just wasn't my thing. If I start painting again, I'll snap a few and post them for you guys.

truth, you are now an adult and there are still(probably more severe) punishments. Either you are bout that life, or find a way to make art legally.

To me graffiti is one of those eternally youthful adventures and I would say if you really enjoy it go ahead. On top of that it can be a great art medium. Considering you won't be dealing with the social circus of high school this time around, it's probably less likely your name would get out there again. I don't know exactly what legal penalties you would face if you were to get caught but if you go for low key spots with a different tag it could be a pretty safe (and fun) calculated risk.

Are you really about getting a felony for spray painting a wall? Not worth it, honestly think about how many people do it and how many people actually make money doing it, are you like insanely gifted and have the time to go about trying to make it? You have to remember you're a adult now and everything effects how your going to live the rest of life

Criminal mischief, defacing of public property, trespassing, there's alot of shit that they can get you with. Even in low key spots, which blows.

But I'm thinking at this point, I'll just hit up spots that aren't on the radar. Even though I could still get caught and face the charges, there's probably less of a chance I will painting in some low key spots, I love to paint but I'm not looking to catch some charges again, espcially as I'm starting the last half of college and will be looking for jobs.

I still paint and its a rush thinking about getting caught.
I use to paint in some crazy spots when i was younger, now, i just keep it low key (under bridges, alleyways) that kind of stuff.

As long as you can find secluded spots where you wont get caught, do it.

Yeah I'd recommend doing what you love.....Get back into it if you still think about it like you do....I'm sure the consequences wouldn't be that bad even considering your age (probably fines and community service like when you were a minor)

I have a bunch of size small stuff for sale! Hit me up!

That was (and still is) my favorite time to paint. I remember a night I went out to hit a spot on top of a building and once me and my buddy got up there it just started pouring rain, to the point of it was hard to see, and the sky was like yellow/blood red, and we just stood there for a while to take it all in. It's the nights like that, that I swear to god I will never forget.

I think that's going to be the plan actually. Might scope out a spot tomorrow, see whats good with it for this weekend.
