Traveling from Toronto to NYC (Suggestions?)

Hey there,

I'm traveling to NYC with a few of my friends. We are all from Toronto and would like to visit some of the historical hip-hop spots of NYC the surrounding area. We are all 90's hip-hop heads! The fashion scene is also of interest to us.

I've done some research, but if anyone has suggestions for a list of 'must-see' spots, or must-visit places that'd be great. Any cheap hostels or places to stay at would also be great. Looking to travel for a week at a cheap cost.
