I didn't think it was that big of a trend.
But seriously like 50% of the kids at my school longboard.
there's two who are sponsored by sector 9 and get praised by all the freshman.
I used to like 3 or more years ago when everyone was into skating and that was the trend.
Yeah it kind of annoys me but it'll pass by eventually.

So many fuck boys around my school are getting Penny Boards. I went down to my skate shop yesterday, 6 kids were in line to buy Penny boards. I have a longboard, but I mostly do downhill and freeride. Road rash is a bitch.

This. A ton of kids who have never picked up a skateboard in my city are now buying penny boards and thinking they are hot shit.

I've been downhilling/racing for 5 years now, I've been skateboarding on an off for 8 years. I look to do a little of both, helps me not get burned out. It's difficult to compare street skating to longboarding since longboarding is a general term with many disciplines within it. But when you compare downhill skateboarding to street skating I'd say downhill takes more balls because you have to maintain your balance at 50 mph+ and make it alive through hairpin corners, but street skating takes more skill because it's so much more technical.

As far as the current trend I think it's really annoying, I see so many bros on my college campus picking up a board and acting like there down with it. Its the lack of progression that kills me because thats the whole point of it.

I've got no problem with long boarders at all, but all my friends who skate give them a lot of shit and post funny ass pictures of them on their websites. and that freestyle reminds me of the dudes who dance around little cones on roller-skates. the other type of board, the cruiser is sick though, especially for shooting video.

I've been riding a penny board a lot lately.

quite the opposite of a long board but carries the same general feel. i've been liking it loads more than my regular board. it's so fun to cruise around on just zippin down sidewalks and parking lots

Did you buy it from Zumiez? and is it pink or purple? Just wondering.

I don't like penny boards I think it's the color or maybe it's something else. Anyway I have been longboarding for 10 years now and skateboarding for about 15 I really do like them both no matter what the current trend is.

I personally hate longboards, it takes no skill to do it.

mainly the reason i longboard is because its the next closest thing to snowboarding (longboarding on hills) during the warmer months (unless you own a boat then you can wakeboard however i dont). i don't longboard from class to class as mine are pretty close together and i live a walking distance away from campus. plus everyone hates people who longboard when classes are getting out trying to show off and shit cause it's so claustrophobic. hilarious to see someone eat shit while everyone is going between classes. i usually go with a couple friends while class is in session and do a circuit throughout campus

Longboarding should not be allowed on campus IMO, that shit would get annoying real fast.

Yeah, you wouldn't believe the growing number of black kids skating in New Orleans these days...nothing wrong with that but I think its directly linked to Wayne and growing trend of skating in hip hop.

Can't complain...its something positive better then the drug, gang banging, gun popping bullshit.

Yup I've noticed it too. Past year I've seen more longboarders than skaters (not including skateparks).

You trying to be a dick or something?

I bought it online, got it < $70 shipped. It's the "hoverboard"- glow deck, black everything else. It's actually pretty mean lookin.

yeah dude just stick with it. go somewhere that has a long rail you can hold onto for support, get your feet firm on the board, and pull yourself along getting a feel for how the board moves under you. then you can start trying to push with your feet and eventually turn and balance by using your center of gravity and different feet positioning. cheers!
