Is being a freemason considered going against the church?

The whole thing seems interesting to me. My uncle's a free mason and I even got to go to one of their breakfast meetings. They seem like really nice people. I don't get where all the slander come from. Can someone educate me?

from what I know it's pretty much a fraternity. they do a lot of charity work and they take care of their own

Yes on the minorities. My family and I are black. On applying from what I know it is more of a family thing/invitation for core groups though their is a lot of branched off divisions that do accept new members.

I think it's really only against the church when you're up high in the organization. There's plenty of people in the lower ranks who go to church every sunday and don't worship Lucifer. The higher you go, the more weird it gets. My grandpa was a freemason too, but I don't know how high or low he was in the organization though.
