From Rapidshare Facebook page
Dear RapidShare fans,
You posted some comments on our wall today regarding the shutdown of Megaupload. There is no reason to be concerned. We distinguish ourselves from services like Megaupload in many major issues and we aren’t threatened in any way. One of the main differences between RapidShare and Megaupload is that we never wanted to escape from the legal access of any administration. RapidShare AG was founded in Switzerland, was always based at the address cited in the imprint and was always managed with an authentic name without any anonymous intermediary companies. The drastic measures against Megaupload were obviously seen as necessary by the FBI because the situation was different there.
We wish you a great time with RapidShare!

other sites like deposit files and stuff seem to be a lot slower now. i think they took their servers in USA down. so now people in america who download from their sites get slower than usual speeds. like capped at 100 kb/s or some shit.

i dont care doe, i always find my ways. they cant stop us.

I really believe that in the event of a wide-scale crackdown on file sharing more and more private/underground file sharing networks will emerge. I highly doubt they can ever stop piracy on the net unless they censor the way China does, and that would hurt the image of freedom in America.

These sites can already be shut down because they're hosting copyrighted material on their servers, which is already against the law. SOPA would allow sites that dont host the copyrighted shit themselves, but link to it/compile it/describe where you can find it.
