how do y'all hb niggas feel about internships? should i start doing internships during my undergrad or wait until i get my degree then be an intern for a year or two before starting a career? i feel like i'm too busy to go to school full time, work part time and do an internship all at once. i know i could just quit my part time job and just go to school full time and be an intern part time but i don't really want to quit my job that i have had for about 4.5 years. what have y'all niggas done or plan on doing? i'm in a dilemma hb bros.

My cousin found a job at a place where she finds interest in as a career path. Maybe you can learn and get paid at the same time? She's also in college.

I did an internship this summer, but it was paid and I had no school so I worked full time. You should try and start as early as possible and gain as much experience as possible. A freshman year internship will also put me ahead when I'm competing with other Sophomores for internships this Summer. Plus if you develop a good standing with your boss, they may ask you to come back, or even provide a job for you after graduation. So thats my two cents, I say do it. Good luck

well I am not sure why you would want to do both, just find an internship that pays and you will make plenty. I made only 10.20 an hour, my homie made fuckin 16.50 before his freshman year too. If you look you can make plenty

Always wondered how you find internships, I'm a freshman now in a scholars program in a well ranked business school so i'd consider my self pretty qualified, but i have no clue how you go about finding them.

My business school had a job search program online that looked for internship openings by our academic standing (i.e. year, gpa, courses taken etc.) But if your school doesn't have a job search available try attending job fairs on campus and keep your eyes open for any other openenings

Even if your school doesn't require an internship to graduate every school should have an internship coordinator.

If not, you need to grind it out buddy and start making some calls.

If it wasn't for an internship I might not have landed the gig that I have now. Also the internship paid $16 an hour during summer break so that way I could return to school with new clothes and shit each semester. Best decision ever IMO (for me at least).

I intern now 4 days a week 9 to 5 and I don't get paid. It's fucked up, I'm 18. In my class there's few people that get paid ... maybe 2 or 3.

Go to local companies and straight up be like "I want to intern here".
Doesn't matter if it's paid or not you want that experience on your resume and those recommendations.

I now have an aight job working for a very large biotech company but for 6 months after graduating from college I tried literally everyday to find either a job or internship. I sent my resume out a minimum of 3 times a day. I applied for over 100 positions. It got to the point where I deleted my facebook and stopped logging on HB since I spent hours on the shoutbox. I even asked some mods to delete my account. Finding a job or internship was my number one priority and if I hadn't been lazy during college and gotten an internship I may have had a job lined up for me right after school.

It's illegal to work for free in California so the majority of internships are for college students. Get a fuckin internship if you can because after school internships will be extremely hard to get; well the ones that are worth it at least. You need experience. That's one of the things employers truly seek. Lots of times they won't even consider you without experience. It might suck working for little to no pay but the experience and what you will be able to put on your resume will make or break your future.

If you are just way swamped with school, get a sumer internship or find one that fits your schedule.

im putting a resume together now and will start sending out applications and shit for the spring semester. this semester i'm trying to get my gpa up and shit so i can get a better chance of landing an internship. if not ill deff do it for next summer. is one internship during undergrad enough? or should i try going for two? i feel like i'm falling behind, i'm a junior and still haven't gotten any internships, haven't even been involved in clubs and shit at school because i've always been a commuter. i blame it on my job, but don't have the balls to quit it and be broke all the time.

Wait, what's your major and where do you want to intern?

I say you can juggle the part-time job, the internship, and school. I'm a commuter, too, man. I feel your pain, but I feel that commuters know how to manage their time better and can juggle more shit. I intern at a fashion company now even though I'm a Finance major, haha.

I say go for it, man. Send out your resume + CL to any company you want to intern at. Hit me up; I can definitely help you out (or anybody else, for that matter).

yo man, i highly recommend u try to get an internship durin every school break or durin the yr if possible. the experience and connects u develop is mad worth it. build up that resume too. but club work wont really get u anywhere unless u plan on being the leadership. most ppl i know got jobs from their internships or thru connect they made, ull b a step ahead everyone else. good luck, the intern grind is lotta work

I can only comment on the Pre Med world since my major is Biology and that's my focus.
In general though yes you should intern, yes you should do it before you graduate.

If you're in the Science world you should do a study with a professor. If you're pre-med you should intern at a hospital or a clinic.
Regardless of your major you should do some real volunteer work. I don't mean picking up cans for an hour on a weekend either.

Trying to stay on my academic grind which is always a buzz kill, I'm a logistics major so idk what i can really find as an internship, idk if i even wanna keep that as my major but i needed to pick one to be in the bschool. I'd love more experience so i can get that strong resumé swag
