I have always heard that soldiers don't brag about their kills, but on the way home today, I saw a guy with a bumper sticker that said Vietnam Veteran 1000 Confirmed Kills, which really surprised me. If you were in a war, would you brag about your kills?

I would my friend was a sniper in the army and was over in Afghanistan, he says the only kill he ever bragged about was shooting someone in the nuts. He said mad people around base talked about it for weeks. So if I could do something like that of course.

A lot of soldier's these days have been desensitized through COD and years of hearing about "evil subhuman Arab Muslim terrorists" plus if you're enemy doesn't look like you and comes from a different culture that you its easier to create a disconnect in your mind. Same shit happened in WWII, in europe a lot of vets would say they respected the Germans and rarely killed their prisoners. Meanwhile in the pacific japanese were rarely left alive and seen as cockroaches.

Someone I know got a tattoo and the owner/tattoo artist of the shop had a poster if himself back during the Vietnam war and he's standing on a Vietcong that he killed as he poses with his gun. Not a picture of this, but a bigass poster. IMO life should be more respected, especially nowadays. During WW I 10% of casualties were civilians, todays wars 90% of deaths are civilians.

I don't think soldiers today should brag about killing because the Iraq war is pointless. They're killing people because they're trying to stabilize their own country. What the fuck kind of sense does that make? It's not their fault they're doing it but if one of them was to brag they'd be ignorant as hell. Afghanistan is kind of a different story since the Taliban in Afghanistan actually had something to do with 9/11.

I know some people that do. I never did and still don't. Got a friend that has a lot of classified pictures and videos on his laptop. Talking about convoys they did and laying out people during gun fights. Just a bunch of close ups gun shots and what not and he was bragging about it... Iraq we did shoot/kill anyone but in Afghanistan that was a completely different story...

The largest amount of confirmed kills I know about is 705 (Simo Häyhä)
