Floyd abode by all rules, which is why the fight was ruled done. Even the ref admitted he did nothing illegal.

Would I have caught Ortiz off guard for being dumb? Probably not.

Would Mayweather still have won the fight if he didn't do that? You betcha.

In the end he just got him back for headbutting him.

I think Ortiz thought the first punch was just Mayweather getting even for the headbutt, that's why he kept his hands at his sides and looked over at Cortez, then he just got knocked out. It was clear that he was unaware the round was live, he was just standing there.

It was legal though, and Mayweather was outboxing him anyhow and had the first 3 rounds, so he probably would've gone on to win. He'd welcome a rematch because it's another $20m in his pocket and he's confident now that he can easily outbox Ortiz.

It sucks that it's a controversial win, but Mayweather is a controversial dude and I'm sure he'll welcome the attention.

I don't watch boxing but from what I'm reading it sounds like Mayweather was just saving everybody's time by knocking him out instead of a 10 round (or whatever boxing is) unanimous decision.

Dan Rafael tweeted at the post-fight press conference "Floyd just spent 10 mins basically making excuses why he's not fighting Pacquiao. I'm gonna hurl." He also said that the Ortiz team is demanding a rematch that will never happen, "no reason or public demand at all."

He's in a tough spot, that's for sure. He'll be Hall of Fame no matter what, but if he retires now he's always going to hear that he ducked Pacquiao to preserve his record, and if he stays in boxing then there's always the chance that he'll lose his flawless record to whoever is next.

I think at the earliest, a fight with Pacquiao would happen around this time next year, and that's assuming Floyd doesn't fight anyone in between. Who knows, according to Dan Rafael, Mayweather just kept giving reasons why a fight with Pacquiao isn't going to happen. Hopefully the post-fight press conference gets posted somewhere so I can read it or watch it.
