These things have two things going for them; nostalgia and the fact that sneaker heads are fucking retarded. People have been hounding Nike for these shoes for years.

Q: DO THE 2011 NIKE MAG SHOES POWER-LACE?

No. For the power-lace feature you will have to wait until 2015.

Q: WERE THE 2011 NIKE MAG SHOES USED IN THE FILM BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II?

The 2011 NIKE MAG shoes are movie prop replicas inspired by the Nike shoes appearing in the 1989 film Back to the Future Part II. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoes are not designed or intended for normal wear and use as footwear.

power lacing most likely saved until 2015, since nike already patented the idea..

Yea, even when I was a kid I hated those Ocarina ass Elf Force 1's. MJ Fox is cool as shit though for continuously pushing his foundation forward.

something doesn't make sense. did you guys see the pictures of the launch event (the small town set up to look like a scene from the movie), the commercials, and all the celebs? i know they're trying to raise money but they spent a ton of money setting this thing up.

youll probably say the money used on marketing could go to the foundation directly..but without no marketing $ = no hype, no first pair going for 37.5 g's

true but it seems like they spent A LOT on marketing. knowing that celebs want to get paid at least 6 figures for a few seconds in front of a camera, how much is left over from the auctions? then again they might all be doing it for free since it's for a cause. but what still surprises me is that movie scene set up. no way that was cheap.

nike probably paid for it out of pocket and is getting a tax deduction for it. none of the money from the shoes is going to finance the launch event.
