1700-mile pipeline long

- This is what America is trying to build. a BIGGEST OIL PIPE starting from Alberta, Canada to Texas.
What for? you may ask. well apparently they want to use the tar sands for the oil production which really isn't a great idea.

1. Tar sands are a fucking disgusting and horribly destructive way to produce low quality

It's good to see that people are still trying to inform the world that we are killing ourselves. It's necessary.

It's simply human nature for us to destroy ourselves and the environment. No matter how dumb certain ideas may seem, you Americans always find a way to make it happen anyway.

^ Isn't it fucking ridiculous that politicians are allowing this plain bullshit that everyone can clearly SEE just for the profits in exchange of destroying our home

i totally agree with you 100%. Not to mention, we all gonna die sooner or later while the future generations still need to live off from the same land we used to live.

Obama doesn't have control over that... I don't see the irony. He says he wants to help ease the dependence on oil, but it won't be easy. The way Obama has been calling out the rich I doubt he would be pleased about this. But money is strong.

Thats not human nature. Its capitalism, putting profit over anything (in short).

The proposed Keystone X.L. pipeline would run 1,700 miles through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma on its way to refineries in Texas. It's projected to cost $7 billion and carry an estimated 800,000 barrels of oil a day.

On Friday, the protesters were dealt a blow by the U.S. State Department, which released a report finding the pipeline project will present no significant environmental problems.

A final decision to allow or reject the pipeline will come from Secretary of State Clinton and ultimately President Obama. It's expected by the end of the year.

So yeah Obama does have a right to say no or yes to this.

- As of right now, about 400 protesters were arrested

But he hasn't decided yet. So the verdict is still out. Yet I agree, dependency on oil is killing this country.

the 14th Dalai Lama [the Nobel peace prize winner] is the latest high profile critic of the Keystone Pipeline.

He is one of a group of nine Nobel Peace Laureates (including Archbishop Desmond Tutu) who have written a letter to President Obama, urging him to honour the environmental pledges he made back in 2008 and reject the Keystone extension.
