basically, i think generalizing cops is stupid, just like generalizing any other group of people.

Generalization is used in daily life no matter what. Generalization is basically what you claim to be different types of people. Say for example, you saw a group of 13-17 year olds. You would generalize them as teenagers, right?

Reminds me of the time some dude killed a bus driver over a refusal of a transfer ticket in Brooklyn. He got the ticket anyways and killed him just for the fun of it.

yes, obviously, if i saw a group of people whom i knew for a fact were 13-17 year olds, i would say they are teenagers, and
@homes, yes, if i knew a man was a man, then yes, i would say that there a few assumptions that could be made lol

however, stating that someone is a "pig" based on occupation, or generalizing about behaviors or qualities of character of people based on certain other backgrounds is not the same thing.

and i do agree with many of your points, i do think police should be held responsible when they are out of line, and i do think it is a shame when police are responsible for injustice or unwarranted violent acts.that type of shit happens in my city too, in fact there was a small race riot in 2001 after an unarmed kid got killed by the cops.he was running away and supposedly reached to pull up his pants and the cop though he was pulling a gun and shot him. shits fucked up

but generalizing a massive group of people as being morally good or bad, as the OP was originally asking, is stupid to me.

wow what a terrible comparison to use. it isn't debatable whether or not a group of 13-17 year olds are teenagers. thats a fact. judging a group of peoples character on their job or appearance however is wrong. ive met cops who treated me respectfully before and ive also met asshole cops. im not gonna assume every cop is out to get me just because ive had bad experiences with a few of them.
