Kerouac is overrated. I thought On The Road was garbage.

I'd suggest Naked Lunch, if you're into creative writing as much as reading, and if you're looking for an "experience." To be honest, I'm really indifferent about the book...There's no real plot, just amorphous disjointing vignettes, but the taboo content is provocative and his descriptions of events/experiences is impressive.
