well figure ill give it a shot

1. Money- Money is everything, without money you cant get a real education. So if your parents cant pay for your education, then you have to. Leaving you with massive amounts of debt that you have to pay off. Thus hindering your progression in the economical classes. Without a college education it is very hard to become successfull and wealthy. Also inheritence plays a large role as well. According to forbes, 31% of americas richest peaople inherited a vast majority of their wealth. check the link below for more info

www.phenomenologycenter.org/course/rich.htm

2. Opputunitites come easier- The phrase "its all about who you know" applies. If your born into a wealthy family. Chances are one of your parents has a pretty decent job. For example if someones parent works at a company, the parent can get there child hired easier. (my father got my brother his first internship)

3. Education-

www.guardian.co.uk/education/2010/sep/28/working-class-students-posh-universities

some key points below

With just 11.5% of its intake coming from working-class families, Oxford is bottom in this particular table. Cambridge is next, with 12.6%, and Bristol, another member of the Russell Group, comes in third at 14.2%. Just two of the universities in the bottom 10 – Durham and Bath – come from outside the Russell Group (both are members of the 1994 Group).

The figures, based on the occupation of students' parents, compares with an average working-class intake of 32.3% across all universities in the country. In total, 37% of the UK's population is estimated to come from routine and manual occupations. The figures – from the Higher Education Statistics Agency (Hesa) – of students entering full-time education in 2008-09 (the latest data available) may not even show the true extent of the underrepresentation because students from long-term unemployed families are not included.

Education Guardian's analysis finds that the subjects students choose are also heavily weighted by socio-economic background. Medicine, dentistry and veterinary science are the subjects least often chosen, with just 18.2% of the students on these courses coming from working-class families. Figures for historical and philosophical studies are also low, at 24.2%, and languages, at 25.9%.

Why is social class the major determinant of the quality of life in the US and not race?
Best answer gets a pm, with a 100% working realitykings pass.

the answer is money. money determines what social class you fall into, not race.

Here are two good articles:
The saying "Asian americans becoming white?". Why doesnt it apply to all asians? The "smart asians" are chinese, japanes, korean. how about the viets, cambodian, hmong?
life expectancy, "social worth" is affected by social class and not race.
http://www.csasc.org/index_files/csa2007_ej_hss-05.pdf

life expectancy of patiences in a midwestern hospital. examines how "hard" the paramedics might try to save someone based on age, race, social worth.
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1533-8525.1998.tb00513.x/pdf

i'll take the pass. can provide more articles, and notes from my sociology class.

Yeah, that black president shit is stupid.

Black people stay acting like Mr. Obama is one of them.

They must not realize his name is Obama.

He's the 'dashiki and kufi' black, not the 'grits and soul' black.

Point is that minorities are still getting oppressed and shit. just cuz you have a dark skinned president doesn't mean shit.

Modern zoning rules are the main reason for massive segregation in cities based on class and not race. Of course, minorities are overrepresented in the lower socioeconomic strata, so in a lot of ways the two problems are one in the same. The trend in modern society is for the rich to move out of the city to the suburbs. These suburbs are zoned by the city/county to keep the poor out. Examples are zoning requirements that require each parcel of residential property to be a certain size (making the land it more expensive to purchase) or exclusively zoning residential areas for single family residences and not allowing multifamily structures (projects). Basically, the poor are kept out of the suburbs because the zoning makes living there impossible to afford. They have no choice but to live in inexpensive inner-city rental units, usually in areas of the city noted for high crime. All the poor get clustered together. It is also almost impossible to change the zoning ordinances. Zoning is a constitutionally legal activity and courts generally pay enormous deference to the city/county's reasoning. As long as the zoning is not arbitrary or capricious, it will likely stand. Not that the poor even have the money to wage a constitutional battle on zoning.

So overall, socioeconomic status is the most important factor for quality of life because zoning regulations adversely affect the poor the most and force them to cluster in inner-city low income housing because it's usually the only housing they can afford.

Now hook a brother up. cool

PlugTunin did an alright job.
Quality of life = education, leisure, health, disposable income, etc
So how does social class affect it? And you can counter argue race with a black president, etc.
This isn't one of those 3 day passes. You'll be fapping good for a month.

Social class to me is just like a story I know called 'The Puppy Who Lost His Way'. Except that the puppy was a dog. But the industry, my friends, that was a revolution.

You could write on the culture of poverty too. It says that people in poverty have certain characteristics that stop them from moving up the social ladder. At least I think that's what it says, my sociologyteacher really wasn't trying this semester.
