so...
12/3x2x2 = 1 and not 16 to you?
i'm the best mayne, i deed it
the problem is written like this... 48
.......................................;;;;....;;;....2(9+3)
when you use "/" it is universally inferred that everything after it is in the denominator, so even though there are no parentheses around everything in the denominator you treat the problem as such.
therefore the answer is 2
\X/
This problem has been getting a lot of attention around the internet...

2 or 288?
the ti-86 is newer than the 85 so it's 288

You don't divide 48 by 2 first and then multiply by 12. It's 48 divided by 2(9+3). My point is that to get a calculator to treat it as such, you need to use parentheses to say 48/(2(9+3)). In reality, if you wrote it out instead of using a calculator, I'm fairly certain that you would solve the denominator first by multiplying 2x12, then divide that into 48. I don't think you'd write it out and then divide 48 by 2 and multiply the answer by 12.

man just because you have a backslash DOES NOT MEAN IT"S A FUCKING FRACTION
it's just a division sign.
it's not like shit is grouped on either side like in a fraction. it's left to right. FUCK

you're wrong, get over it. there's more important things in life than just finding out that 48/2(9+3)=2. for example, you could work on your reading comprehension, since you clearly didn't understand my post.
then you get original ops answer of 2
