Flipping cars is a good idea if you know how to do the work yourself. Cruise Craigslist for Civics, Corollas or any other cheap economy car that is selling for cheap. Find one that has something simple that's wrong with it like an alternator, buy it for a cheap as you can, replace the broken parts and resell it for higher. I wouldn't bother if you can't do it yourself and be warned that it may take a while to sell it. Also, make sure you know what you're getting into before you buy it because if you end up with a car with a blown head gasket or something similar you aren't going to make any money off it.

Did this shit throughout high school and on some free time in college to avoid getting a shitty job. It's fun as shit learning how to work on cars and pretty easy to make money if you get the right cars as mentioned above. Although it's not instant you can get some pretty good return. I got a friend who has done it for a while as a side job and is now buying newer Forester and WRX's with light damage, fixing them up and flipping them for close to 100% profit. Just do some searching and find the right car to start with.

Not a bad way to go.
