Me and my friends were having a discussion about what is all colors combined and what's the lack of any color or the absence of all colors. Don't say both. I don't care whether you're thinking scientifically or just practically. What's your opinion?

not really. it depends whether you're talking about the color or light spectrum.
color spectrum (visual) = black is all colors, white is lack of color
light spectrum = white is all different lights, black is lack of light

Color is defined by the reflection of light.

Black = Absence of color

It depends in what terms you're talking. In terms of light or in pigments. The absence of all pigment renders an object white but speaking in more scientific terms the absence of all color in the instance of light is black. Color in light is just the frequency of said light waves and wavelength, if you remove all light wave frequency thus removing all light you're left with black. So both answers are right there's no opinion to this it just depends on what you're talking about.

dear ignorant dumbass

light is a complicated subject

but being a physics major i will try to inform you on light

you can think of light as a photon traveling as a energy particle in a light wave

with lightwaves i can tell you about the photoelectric effect

ultraviolet light hits a surface and causes electrons to be emitted from the surface, the color of the light depends on the frequency of the light wave that travels to your eyes

the visible lightwaves to our eyes gives us our "color spectrum"

shine all colors of light into same spot you get white

remove all light you see black

edit: i don't really know what i'm talking about

nope, you got it backwards.

No Light= No color

The reason space is "dark" is because of it's vastness and it's a vacuum.

A black hole is "dark", although it does emit radiation of some sort, because of it's intense gravitational field. Gravity is so strong that light particles (Photons) can't escape its gravitational field, if light cant escape we cant see it and that's why it's called a black hole. What we can see though is the event horizon which is the "margin" of where light from other celestial bodies can just barely escape the gravity of a black hole so it looks sort of like a circle of light around the black hole sort of like an eclipse.

Winner.

and

are two different things. The second picture describes mixing the colors will result in black. The second one is used for painting and crayons, first one is more scientific. All of you guys are right, it just matters if the OP is talking scientifically or artistically. Trick question guys

a polar bear's hair is translucent and when light reflects it is viewed as white. the reflection traps the suns infrared light into the bears black skin and keeps it warm...
