Thinking about learning how to play by myself.
Dont need that private teacher crap.

Theres this solo i wanna learn how to play on the electric guitar first,
but i'll start with the acoustic.

Im planning on learning how to tune, basics, to -------> BOOM! Electric Guitar Solo!

Thats exactly what i did with piano. Anyone think its possible?
Some tips?

Heres the solo I really wanna learn:

electric easier then acoustic imo.

learn to play tabs (which is straight forward, what you see is the fret you hold..)

and look up songs here: www.ultimate-guitar.com

edit: oh and don't buy a cheap guitar (ie. Walmart) if you are serious, go to a music store and buy a decent one id say ~$200+ is expected

Guitar is a lot harder than piano; for starters, piano doesn't have any physical requirements. You learn piano by playing songs, whereas you learn guitar by practicing fundamentals that have no musical enjoyment, then put those skills towards playing a song. I'm speaking beginner phases; nobody plays marry had a little lamb on guitar; you just do finger exercises, then put those to work on a song. Depends on what you want to play though; everything that guy is doing is simple technique wise and probably won't take long for your hands to be able to do... barre cords high on the neck and simple plucking on the bottom; you should already have a sense of rhythm from playing the piano... so your only trouble would be getting everything in order with your fretting hand(posture and thumb positioning... some people play for a year or more without knowing how the positioning of your thumb can change everything), and knowing how to strum properly if you're using an amp...

Also, acoustic is harder for a beginner since they have a higher action; you should start with an electric guitar not plugged into an amp.

bro, finger strength is just as important in piano as it is in guitar. theres technical exercises for piano too (czerny, hanon. its hard to say which instrument is harder to learn.

Is This Life?, just keep practicing until you're comfortable and confident with your playing. not sure what to start with, i haven't played guitar in a while...
