^ take my advice, and downgrade your camera (maybe to a T2i or T3i) and get some better glass to shoot with. kit lenses (other than the 24-105L) are trash, so i'd probably sell the one you have also.
its cool that you have the chance to start out with a 7D, but no reason to best invested in a good camera if you have bad lenses (or stuck with a single one, especially the kit lens).

It was a gift to me, it would be salty to sell something that was given to me, just a thought.
As for getting better glass and getting into the L line of lenses. I'll just do my best with what I have until I get some decent glass.
My lens does have sharpness issues and it's just complete garbage in low light.
