Asian Americans will be quick to tell you they're Asian.

But a Black person will never admit what they really are, which is African?!

igonore the stupid ✖✖✖✖✖ response above me.

A few reasons.

first, the correct term is african-american. second, most people you identify as "black" are 7, 8, 9, 10+ generations removed from Africa. The overwhelming majority have no identifying roots and/or family ties to Africa. That history was wiped out long ago.

In general, a large part of the of the asian/pac islander community arent as many generation removed from their home country.

Because "they" portray Africa to be a disgusting shameful place on earth... If a random person on the street were asked to name a place of poverty and disease 90 percent or more would say "Africa" right off the bat.. It's the ignorant ones who think they are above Africa... I'm Africa.. African American w.e Africa is something to be proud of.

Nice info^^^
I like these types of threads blushing
I agree most people don't like to be called Africans they see it as a joke.
If you dark as fuck you automatically become a African joke which is messed up.
Like how you gonna diss your own race...

Brooklyn said it best. Europeans brainwashed us to think that connecting with Africa in anyway is a bad thing and shameful.

This is the same reason we don't call white people in america european. Sure they have european blood lines but most are several generations removed. It's interesting to think about.

Nah most of you are wrong. Black people don't identify themselves as African because the ancestors that they know best were all born in the US. A lot of them don't even actually know anyone in their family tree that was born in or affiliated themselves with Africa. So really, the black people who don't identify themselves as Africans, did so by default..

My ancestors are from Africa. I'm from America. So ill go with African-American or Black. Black is better imo because like said before all black people aren't from Africa.

Random Black Pride shit:I feel like black culture has only been around for like 50-60 years. We gotta stick together and become one. Fuck the white man but don't be tripping on how the white man puts us down. We gotta rise up y'all. One Love

Never in my life have I heard of the term Pac. Islander til I came to N. America. Even people in the Philippines call themselves Asians.
