I'm thinking we should have a book club to discuss chapters of a book that we all will collectively decide on. Possibly all members of the club come to this thread for a discussion every Friday (starting next Friday) to discuss the book chapter by chapter?

I'm reading Middlemarch right now, but if anyone has a book they'd like to nominate feel free and the most favored is the one we'll read. Also, if you're down to do this say so and I'll add your name to the list here in the OG post.

Although I know this thread is headed downhill because its HB, I'm in if we pick a good book. We could also do short stories (I.E. Dubliners by James Joyce or The Wall by Sartre) and discuss those. Anyways I'm in.

I'm somewhat interested in James Joyce, but then again not really. Finnegan's Wake made me not want to read another piece of work by him ever again.

I'm down..I read too much...Yeah this book was aight, but honestly the authors dug in way too deep and over-analyzed Nas's lyrics. I like the chapter on "one love" though..

Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevski is a must

Les Miserables

100 years of solitude

It's kinda hard to settle but how do u cop Code of Samurai?..I'm not gonna spend 15 bucks at Barnes n Nobles for the sole purpose of discussing it here..I'm down to read it for free or rent it online on the Overdrive library online but they don't have it...So if any of u guys got a link share it and we'll discuss it by tuesday.

I've already made my suggestion, and you yours. I don't really mind what we read I guess, I just prefer to wait until it's put to a vote. Im sure we'll all be able to agree on something interesting.

Amazing book, and it has a youthful element that I think alot of us could appreciate. I definitely nominate this.

Yeah, I'll do that. When there's a decent amount of nominations I'll make the 2nd thread. I'm interested in reading that Michael Eric Dyson book though, but the people will decide.

The member list on the front page is updated as well.

And if you can't afford a book, you can always d/l .pdf files smile

not to be a pessimist, but this is going to turn out horribly. Either A) You won't be able to choose a book everyone will decide on and this will fold or B) no one will read the book chosen and this will fold. Either way, I hope I am wrong because this is actually a decent idea...
