College Majors?

Oct 18, 2010 @ 21:56
i'm thinking either lit or history of art and visual culture

started out engineering. in physics now. but technically my proposed major is art.

Do not major in the same creative art/design/film photo bullshit that EVERYBODY is majoring in right now unless you're already good enough to get a job doing it. If not you'll be working for free when you get out of school. Major in getting that motherfucking paper.
Oct 18, 2010 @ 22:51
I'm pursuing a double major through our Scholar's program - English & Business Administration. I'm hoping to write though.

But really, I should be majoring in getting that motherfucking paper.

i think even if you graduate from a top architecture school, ie harvard, you still only have 5% of their graduating class getting a job in architecture. and if you don't have a job in architecture then you don't have some awesome other job.
and if you aren't in harvard or mit or whatever its a lot harder.

did a minor in french, it's not exactly the easiest thing to do. french compositions like no tomorrow and really, if you're not already somewhat fluent in the language, you'll have a hard time.

edit: double major in physiology and global health, with a minor in french.

9 to 5 is how to survive, i ain't tryin' to survive. i'm tryin' to live it to the limit and love it a lot

Well I took it in high school and am taking it now in college. I have a general interest in french and would like to study abroad there. But I'm a Biology major on top of that and don't want to overload.

Does anyone know what percent of people who get a degree in International Business are employed fairly quickly after college? That's the field that I want to get into but I'm not sure if it would be a good decision or not.

Would Philosophy be a good major in undergrad when i hope to attend a law school for grad school? it seems like itd be interesting enough for me to study in undergrad
also, im minoring in music.

I was in the same situation. I thought about psychology as an undergrad, then realized it boring as fuck after a semester of high school psych classes. Majoring in Political Science would be your best bet. It makes things MUCH EASIER when you're actually in law school and its apparently the most common route for pre-law students.
Nov 06, 2010 @ 16:45
do a major in english and philosophy lol.

but really, your lsat (or whatever it is in the states) will be based on fucked up scenarios/situations, not anything you can learn from a psych textbook.

Woah, I definitely meant for that to say Philosophy
Nov 06, 2010 @ 18:07

I just graduated for Mechanical Engineering. Its hard work for 4 years but its worth it when you graduate. Its probably one of the jobs that pays the most after graduating. Why do you want to take Mechanical?

all I do is sip espressos and listen to AZ -mrelllis.tumblr.com

I've been considering doing this since getting to college but I'll probably end up not minoring since engineering takes a lot of time as it is lol But I'm making sure I don't lose touch with what I wanted to minor in. Engineering isn't exactly something I love, but I don't know who really "loves" engineering lol But it's something I think I can do pretty well :/ Even though it can get pretty tedious
