College Majors?

And yes, to earn anywhere near a doctor's salary with a psychology degree you need to go through med school and intern for 3 years or so after that. From there it's smooth sailing. Obviously understating a little here... med school and science undergrad is hard as fuck but you get the idea. 11 years out you're making $100k guaranteed.

Pharmacists make $90k or so out of college (6-8 [+pcat] yrs) but it's also.. hard as fuck.

How are you civil engineering guys doing?

Considering changing my major up a bit. Do you have to be a math whiz? How does the job market look?

civil is "easier"
job market for civil especially in environmental civil is actually looking good. apparently a decent increase in demand over the next 10 years

Thanks for the response. You know, I want to follow what I truly like, which is psychology, but 7 years of school, as you mentioned, is just not appealing. I want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and get a degree in something that I like and make good money. But I just need to find out what that is...

I say go for it man, if that's truly what you love to do then do it. When you got your degrees, your practice and that 100k salary you won't regret it for a second.

What are some proffesions i can go into with lets say a masters in Psychology, im doing pre-med now but its looking like my science grades might be too shitty to get accepted anywhere decent. So im in need of a backup plan with a Psych degree and maybe a minor in something else. Im really interested in Psych and neuro-psych so i can see myself studying it for a while. I just need to find a specific route that will result in a decent paying job.

I'm thinkin psychology or a business degree, my brother is in pharmacy school but that's just too much, but 100k right outta college sounds nice.

honestly if you're determined to come up big in the longterm and can work hard then go with a science based degree for undergraduate. From there you have options: pharm school, grad school, med school, law school, or work right away. Its a lot of work, but its definitely a good mix of job security and income potential

Is it a good idea to get a degree in graphic design?
Oct 14, 2010 @ 11:13
Depends, If you are going to end up freelancing then you dont really need to as long as your work is advanced, if its not then its good to learn all the basics in school and then experiment yourself. But if you are hoping to work for an angency then you'll need one since they usually require a degree.

Right now im a math major. Im really just trying to find my niche right now. When i think back, my favorite class throughout high school was graphic design and its the only thing that i learned that i constantly use. I even won competitions with it so i figure why not try it out.
