That's why I mentioned in my earlier post that prayers won't do anything..Action like donating money is more efficient than imagination

unfortunately that is a big fallacy of argument
probably the most common, but i dont want to turn this into a shitshow

Man, the government or therefore, lack of government over there is horrible. Imagine being a family member of someone who has been killed. All they've been doing is dumping the bodies in essentially just heaps alongside waste/trash, all to be wiped off the planet unidentifiable sad. At least in the aftermath of the tsunami's in Thailand they took pictures of dead victims ....smh. This shit is real people, happy to see ppl donating from this board.

I'm donating some money, thought about contacting Unicef and seeing if I can do some voluntary work over Easter (next time I get a decent amount of time off school).

R.I.P. to all those passed and hope that everyone here's family is alright (those of you with Haitian fam).

this is a good idea. can you really do this??

I'm in the U.S. Navy and we just participated in a 50 man working party on the USNS Comfort. We loaded up tons of food on the ship from about 7am to about 11pm. It was some greuling work but if you think about how fortunate we are to be able to go home to our cars and families, it makes it all worthwhile. The Comfort should arive in Haiti this coming Thursday. They have bst military surgeons and doctors, techs.etc you could get. I just hope their safe out there. Cause you know some of those Hatians are shootin' AK's at *****s now. Its a very big disaster.

ill be donating some money - if i had the funds i'd go down there and do something more active and really give some time.

On a side note it's sad to me that hundreds of thousands are dead and this thread isn't even on the first page of this forum... i guess people have more to say about which jersey shore guido they'd smash.

I feel like the lack of attention people on this forum are showing to this emergency is juvenile in a sense.

^a reason for that is cuz America is made up of a fast paced capitalist society. We are an individualistic society that's always out on lookin to make a profit..We identify amongst ourselves not by race but by this idea of individual freedom that centers around wealth as the main prospect..

i think so, apparently a person died from the heart attack.

btw has anyone bought Haiti relief T-shirt from Play Cloths? they're on sale until this friday and all the money will be donated through Wyclef's org or fund.

it looks dope but bit out of range as far as price goes for me. 43 dollars.

this is why i fucking hate money and the way our world works. seriously? money? we need to raise money to buy help for these people? why is help for something this serious required to be purchased? multi-billion dollar companies saying, "buy our product and we will donate a dollar to haiti." if they really cared they would just donate a huge amount to haiti instead of using the earthquake as a way to pretend that they care and cashing in on a tragedy.

we're living in this corporate world. FUCK CORPORATES, the LIVES OF PEOPLE COME FIRST. Not the fucking profit.

But i think it's pretty chill that they're doing this because it gives a person the choice of donationg the money while getting a T-shirt.

even when these countries are donating 100 million bucks each, there's still a hidden agenda. donating millions of bucks is a good amount to give you a good image, but a country can easily give a billion. damn countries, especially our country, sees this as an opportunity for future profits. or maybe even buying haiti.
