People who say "you need to tip, they get less than minimum wage" are wrong, if they don't hit minimum wage with their tips they are compensated.

i dont tip unless its a real nice restaurant, people over here dont tip much anyway so i dont feel weird if i dont.

i suppose if i went to a country where everyone leaves tips i would probably tip about 10% but other than that i dont care if they get minimum wage, it aint my problem

As far as I know 10% is pretty much the norm over here, 20-40% is practically unheard of.

LOL don't generalize! i tip quite generously... i OVER tip... unless yes, if they were rude and obnoxious.

i also hate the waiters who eagle eye watch your table while you eat.. hella uncomfortable.

LMAO at eagle eyes hahaha. We have keep our eyes on the tables at ALL TIME> cool haha

yeah you're right i can't generalize entire race and of course, they're exceptions obviously because every individual is different.

Deff tip , at least the 15%, i was once a waiter and it is not the easiest job. Plus thats what really makes your minimum wage job worth keeping.

And if the waiter/waitress is good and polite maybe even 20%. I just got back from living in Singapore and Malaysia and even a few years in Japan, most places over there have a service charge already included in the price so tipping is not very common. I didnt like it at all, because at one of the places i was working at the service charge did not even go to the servers, which made no sense to me at all?

Yes, as much as there's a bunch of cheapfucks out there, there's a bunch of rich fucks too. This one guy would come in with his friends for lunch, rack up a bill of $400, ordering exclusive shit and bottles of wine, but would leave about $4 tip. However, when he came with a party, we got him with the grat!

To everyone saying, "You have a paycheck, if you don't like your job, get a new one, etc." I'm assuming those people haven't worked in the restaurant business. Not only are the servers putting up with customers, they have to deal with the bartender (as to getting your drinks out quick,) and also the line cook/chefs. Being a line cook, it's so easy to be a dick to servers. They nag us all the time with your order, saying stuff like, "I need that dressing on the side, and they want only three slices of cucumbers, no tomaotes," "They want an 8oz medium well, sliced, sauce on the side," "Could you write happy birthday on this dessert plate?" BUT WE DO IT FOR YOU ANYWAYS. It's so easy to make your food quick or lag it. You're not just tipping out the server, you're tipping out the busboys, bartender, and kitchen staff. Trust me, we remember which diners are nice or assholes, and if you're chill, I'll definitely hook you up with extra food, an extra dessert, and possibly some free drinks/booze, etc. Try the serving life, then you'll tip differently. Remember, there's always places like McDonald's where you don't have to tip. I'm not saying to over tip, but just 15% is fine, if you do leave something generous, you will get some royal treatment next time around.

For you servers out there, check out this book:

While we're not putting up with your orders, here's what goes down.

i had a crazy experience the other night. i was on date at this local restaurant. the service was pretty good, but not exceptional. the total bill came out to $44. i gave the waiter $100, he came back saying "sorry about giving you all $1 bills, we were running low on cash". i opened up the booklet shit or whatever it's called, and he actually gave me $115 in cash. i didn't say shit and tipped him $7 and left. while in the car i told my date "holy shit that guy gave me $115." the girl i was with was like "just give the money back to the restaurant, if he keeps it, it's his money, it's just not right to keep it". i was pretty much ready to leave and had the car started and everything. but after a while i felt bad cause i'm a soft faggot. i walked into the restaurant, gave the waiter $30 bucks, and dipped. felt fucking great afterwards. yeah, this shit is kinda long, but make sure to post a "cool story bro" comment after this.

sparknotes: went out to eat, waiter accidently gives me $70, i gave back $30.
