Quick question.....

Where any pinoys around in the late 80's in Cali when the skate scene was jumping off?
What about NY, when the hip hop, breaking, Grafiti scene was geting big.
or when the sneaker scene was all original. 89-94 ( before retros, ebay, resseling got big)

I'm sure there were a few. You've also got to remember that the filipino population exploded in the late 90's with immigration being the main reason. Jobs and what not were readily available.

that makes sense. I remember growing up in NYC. Didnt see any in the schools, stores,..anything. The was def a huge mix of peeps back then. Just didnt remember any pinoys. Cool Peeps. Always in the store buyin up this streetwear.

Im sure that all of these kids that shop at the spot were born in the states!
I just didnt remember seeing alot of pinoys back in the day....now they make up a majority of the consumer at the spot.

I only see pinoys in LA for the most part. I been in NY for like 3 years and can count how many ive seen on my fingers. In Boston I think I went to school with two and they were the only ones i'd ever seen there. I don't even know anyone outside of HB who knows what a pinoy is. Such a random race to focus on in the broad spectrum of America.

When i lived on Earth i made a friend who was Asian .
I always thought he was Chinsese because of what Hollywood taught me as a kid .

Not sure why but for some reason Hollywood views Asians as a joke , i never understood where the hate came from.

As i grew up and moved away from the television set i learned about different Races and Ethnics .
I discovered that my friend was Filipino , lol .

He kept telling me that he was but like i said before , i was brainwashed by Hollywood into thinking that he was Chinese .

I've always thought he was different from all of the other Asians , he wore jordans , sagged his pants and listened to rap music . All the black kids thought he was cool since he was a Asian kid who was into hip hop , lol .
