prep is important for styling and shit. shower, towel dry to dampness, apply some base/clay (tiny) then blow dry, then do whatever your routine is. this is for medium/longer/thicker hair and shit. heat helps a lot too. that is if your haircut consists of like blending, texturzing and only scissor/razoring/thinning in some area cuts.
for the niggs who dont fuck with the taper shit and lil boosie fades and shit and have/want medium to longer hair, never use a fucking buzzer, even for the sides or if youre fading from a shorter to higher length. you can actually get buzzer length but textured which looks and feels fucking better, blended and falls down nicely with scissors, i know. just tell your barber to not be a lazy ass. when using a buzzer the surface area hair turns COARSE (this shit is fucking mj bad) resulting in a not healthy look and sticking up and shit.
in short scissors, texturzing, blending, thinning to get that luxurious shit. cigars, porn, gotta keep it luxurious.

You seem to know what you're talking about so i gotta ask you for some advice. I have thick hair, not super thick like i've seen some people but thick enough that if i don't lay it down it'll stick up in some parts. I'm trying to get a quiff/pompadour look, how would i go about this.. I tried pomade but that doesn't hold my hair well enough and it's also a bit too shiny for my liking. I usually use putty for that matte look and it's probably the best at holding my hair but without blow drying or anything it tends to lose it's form after a bit. Am i using the right products and just not prepping correctly? Or is it completely the wrong products? I was thinking to try sea salt spray like i saw someone use but i feel it's unnecessary because i've seen some people use putty or wax and achieve the same look but i just can't get it right.
